I agree Anas benefits more as a freshman being teamed with the Jones'. He has proven skills and should only get better from the experience.
Also known as the "JC Ruid Effect." If you just said, "who?" then that proves the point.

Ruid was the 3rd guy on the Martin St. Loius-Eric Perrin line at UVM from 95-97; he had 55 points his Junior season but never more than a cup of coffee in the AHL. As the Harvard broadcaster said during one game, "My grandmother would score 30 points on a line with St. Louis and Perrin."

....so that applies to Matt Moulson (w/Tavares)

Nah, I think Tavares would've done okay without Moulson. :D

Besides:
1) Moulson made it to the NHL while not playing with Taveres
2) Taveres was only 1/3 of that line, not 2/3.
3) It's early, obviously, but Moulson's still putting up pretty decent points for the Sabres (11 in his first 15 games)

Ruid couldn't even crack the AHL - he is definitely the poster boy for the phenomenon in my mind.

Ken Schott ‏@slapschotts 31m
#ECACHockey suspends #QUHockey F Brooks Robinson 1 game for hit from behind vs. #UMassHockey Saturday. Will miss Friday vs. #RPIHockey

Not a huge deal. Matt Lemire will probably just take his place.

Lemire's played way more than Brooksy anyways. Really doesn't matter. Brooks plays every 3 weeks or so

UNH's coach Mac was recruiting in BC 20 years ago. Hard to imagine he was the only one. ;)
That's kind of why I worded it the way I did...."pretty well" gets me off the "only coach ever to" hook. :D

Man oh man....just glad to be able to post....woke up this morning and my Windows installation was toast. Good thing I
had done an image recently!

Bucci just posted something about NCAA alums in the NHL, got me thinking...

Do you think Quinnipiac's first alum in the NHL has graduated, still playing or yet to be recruited?

I think Hartzell could have a cup of coffee but our first full timer is yet to be recruited. Thoughts?

I think that it possibly could be Connor Clifton if his development continues upwards but its likely a yet to be recruited player.

I've heard a lot of people mention JST because of his size. Connor Clifton will likely get a sniff as well. Hartzell might see the big dance, but he's got a ton of talent in front of him to get through.

If we're going to have a full-time impact player in the NHL, I'd say he hasn't seen the ice at the Bank yet.

We watched Toews get better each game for Surrey. By his last few months in the BCJHL he was an outstanding D-man.
Lots of silver on his parents mantle at home.

That is a great article, but nothing new to those of us that have been closely following this team. To be honest. none of the freshmen have failed to impress me. It's as strong a freshman class as we've ever had and should only get better as they mature. And while the Clifton's, Toews, Smith, Anas... get all the headlines, Tommy Schutt just goes out there and plays hard every shift. These kids have come together as part of the team, and are buying into the system like seasoned vets.

I'll bite, what exactly is "everything that stink hole represents?"

Imagine that, given the horse barns are just a couple hundred yards away. Regrettable perhaps, but it kinda adds to the vet program to have some, you know, ANIMALS around. You managed to find a rare day, the wind is seldom from that direction. Sorry if nature offends you.

Nature doesn't offend me I live in Maine. My family had season tickets at UNH for years and I never sniffed any horse poo when I used to go. But everything the stink hole represents includes but is not limited to student chants about sex, orgies and the classic "sit down *****." Is QU perfect with chants ... HELL NO. Boy I've heard some nasty things coming from out student section. I grew up a Maine fan hating everything about UNH mostly after I was given the middle finger by a UNH fan after Lucas Lawson scored in OT years ago. So that's what I am talking about. Glad to see UNH fans taking a look at this thread.

I missed the UMASS game over the weekend, but Dad and I were able to catch the Providence game. Not a bad game one bit ... but I would have loved the W ... obviously. Hope everyone's thanksgiving was great. Geaux Bobcats.

The church choir? ;)

Strike one.

Strike two.

Strike three!

Are we gonna see your ugly mug on the 3rd? :p

Well it doesn't seem like I am welcome anymore. I have to figure out if I can get out of work in time. I got a promotion at work last month so I'm not sure, but I think I am working in the morning on the 3rd ... so if Dad is willing to drive we might be able to make it down!

Re: 2013-14 Quinnipiac Bobcats: New season, new scoreboards, new chance at redemption

Last pair of games before the holiday break on tap this weekend starting with a tough test tonight at RPI. Hopefully, the bug that was going around the locker room has run its course and everyone is 100% because it's going to take a total team effort for a full 60 minutes. Solid D, strength between the pipes, and some more of that offensive firepower.

Go Q!
