2012 Women's Beanpot

Re: 2012 Women's Beanpot

Pickett with a sweet deke and backhand to net the championship. Final shots 47-29 in favor of the Terriers

Re: 2012 Women's Beanpot

Congrat's to both teams....After a 13 year drought in the BeanPot NU prevailed...From the AD to the Coaches and especially the players, NU appears to be the "Real Deal." Good job ladies...Can't wait for the remainder of regular season wins and then on to the playoffs.....

Re: 2012 Women's Beanpot

14 year drought, right? 1998 Olympic year Northeastern won. Harvard then won 1999-2005.

Re: 2012 Women's Beanpot

Northeastern's Casey Picket dekes and lifts a backhand over a sprawling Kerrin Sperry giving the Huskies the OT win and their first Women's Beanpot title in 13 years.

Now let's be reasonable in how we classify droughts: Northeastern is the program that had the longest Beanpot drought, since 1998. The BU varsity team has a drought of seven seasons, since 05-06, now the longest. The school itself has a drought dating back 31 years. It's ridiculous to make statements about a BU drought while omitting the fact the team did not become varsity until 2005.

Re: 2012 Women's Beanpot

Man was that game sweet. **** near killed me going into OT like that but I will take it. It was kind of funny that it was almost exactly 4 years since I went to my first Women's Beanpot and started to really follow them that they finally won it again. Really good atmosphere for the game, though I wish a few more NU people were able to make it up there.

Too bad the Globe didn't run a gallery like the Herald, as their photog had a ton of great shots.

Re: 2012 Women's Beanpot

Been meaning to say congrats to the Huskies on the win. That was as good of a game you could ask for with it being the Beanpot Championship game and all. Extremely competitive and hard fought. Schelling is an absolute beast and boy am I glad she is graduating this year. NU's dynamic duo of Coyne and Pickett are great as well, you can tell that they have a lot of chemistry, probably a result of playing together all year.

Unfortunately with the loss, it looks like BU's only shot at NCAAs this year will be to win the HE championship. This will make the tourney in 3 weeks all the more interesting and fun and I am hoping we get a few more competitive games out of it. Hope BU is up to the task as being able to pull out the HE championship will be a monumental achievement with all the difficulties that they've had this season.

P.S. Great crowd, really glad a good number of the BU community came out to support.

P.P.S I don't get how NU is still winless against BC. They look far superior from the games I have watched IMO.
