2012 Presidential Election - The Day after the Aftermath...

What are you talking about given away for free? You deduct the value that you paid in order to gain the asset.

Yes I know. You get the money you paid via risk (loans for example) or taking your own money that you earned (and was already taxed) and buy the assets.

plans are already in place Mookster. Country goes off fiscal cliff, taxes go back to Clinton rates and defense spending gets slashed. Then the O picks and chooses which rates he wants to lower and horse trades a little on spending cuts. The choice for our walking-upright-challenged friends on the right is simple. Either make a deal now and accept tax hikes on the rich, or do nothing and get blamed for tax hikes on everyone.

On guns yeah I'd like to see something done.

Not sure leadership is standing still. Boner did offer up millionaires. BHO still thinks 250k for a family is super rich (like algore and Kerry before him). Probably will work though since the 47% earn or get handouts well under that :p

Re: 2012 Presidential Election - The Day after the Aftermath...

Captain gains come from taking income earned (after tax) an investing. It's already been taxed once

Everything is taxed more than once. I already paid taxes on my income and then I go to the store and buy something and pay taxes on my purchase and then I use my income to pay my property taxes. Etc. etc. etc. If you're actually going to argue that it's already been taxed you're going to have to do better than that.

Actually, the money that you use to pay your property taxes is not taxable, assuming you take that specific deduction.

Exactly :)
Sales tax is less than income tax
Property tax is less than income tax

If you want cap gains tax to rival that initial tax YOU have to do better than that :D

Doesn't matter either way. My point still stands. We love capital, we hate labor.

Just come out and say it... You hate the rich. Being honest with yourself will set you free! :D. Get that elephant off your chest!!

I don't hate anybody. I just want Mitt Romney to pay the same percentage I do. I see nothing wrong with that.

I am fairly certain that way back when when he had a job he paid a higher percentage than you on his income. Fortunately he hasn't had a job though for some time.

And yet, some of us have suggested a way for that to happen. Of course, because it came from "a knuckledragger", it is to be discarded.

Yet, he makes more money than I do. Which SLAMS my point home. We love capital. We hate labor.

I am also fairly certain that when he was working he didn't spend the entire working day on a chat board *****ing about people who made more money than he did.
Maybe if you applied your rich anger in a more constructive manner you'd become what you hate :p

Again for the 1 millionth time. I don't give a **** how much he makes and I don't give a **** how much I make. I give a **** that the ****ING TAX SYSTEM IN THIS COUNTRY IS ****ED UP AND SKEWED TO PEOPLE WHO WHINE MORE ABOUT IT THAN I DO. Exhibit A Grover ****ING Norquist.

And what makes you unable to take advantage of the same thing as someone else?

Re: 2012 Presidential Election - The Day after the Aftermath...

Well... I think it's primarily a spending problem. The whores in congress think the bank account is there's to play with and pork it up to get re-elected. (Witness the sandy relief bill). For the billions we supply Washington we should be able to take care of everyone's health concerns and have updated bridges and feed our hungry with some left to help those around the world who are needy.

you only get taxed on the GAINS right, not the original investment that was already taxed?
