Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

No - they're voting in what they want - big government and less responsibility. The consequences will hit in about 20 years.
Have you guys not been paying attention? The Dems are like a pile of leaves in the wind. The GOP is organized. The GOP will continue to block any action the Dems try to push therefore passively enacting the less gov't they have been trying to push but the voters have rejected.

4 yrs ago people were moaning about how the super majority would have the Dems enacting all sorts of stuff. All they did was fight amongst themselves. Don't expect that will change at all.

Virginia closing as Fairfax and Norfolk come in, should be interesting. And Kaine now ahead there.

I would contend that they were voting against what they Don't want. I don't think, if you ask a latino or a woman, they would ask for bigger govt.
I think that's just a phrase the fox guys came up with to make fun of the other side.. which I must admit the republicans are very good at doing.

Will they get bigger govt? maybe, but not much. There are going to be budget cuts regardless of who wins, that is bound to lower the size of govt to some extent.

NBC calls it for Kaine. Allen goes from the presumptive nominee to losing a Senate race twice in six years.

Yep.
for non-conservatives, this thread is going to be like sitting next to me after PC loses. Anger!

Les - not at the State Level. The GOP in our two states might as well be Charles I to Cromwell. The GOP could run a saint and still lose.

See my post referencing Pat Buchanan. The GOP of 1980 is dead and gone. And I have to hand it to the Democrats that they successfully passed the blame buck to Bush 43, even after 4 years of their own policies. In 2 and 4 years, will the electorate hold the Dems responsible if we're racking up debt in the same amounts as we're doing now? If not, I stand by my prediction.

You still have ACA. That's going to bring an plethora of new hiring at the federal and state level - and it's only going to get larger.

Maybe some of that will be offset by DoD cuts, but it won't be a 1 for 1 replacement.

Both sides rack up debt for their favorite causes. No one seems to have an even approach- they either neglect the domestic side or the military side. What ever they neglect the other side comes in and overspends to correct the lack of the last admin. Unfortunately neither side can see past the end of their nose or their psychotic far leaning fringe elements.

It isn't just voting for who you think is going to be good any more. It is also who will align with what set of crazies when they get to DC. THere really isn't a good way to make a choice anymore.

Wish I could remember where I heard/saw the stats but the biggest job losses were in the public sector/govt jobs. While other numbers were starting to recover this trend was continuing into larger neg numbers. If this is true why is there continually concern about the 'new hiring stuff.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

CNN declares Iowa for Obama.

Romney's only remaining chance is to win Alaska, Florida, Missouri, Ohio, Virginia and one of Colorado or Nevada.

Re: 2012 Presidential Election 5: Election Day Countdown

Fox calls Ohio for the President. Congratulations on your reelection.

I guess the people calling it know more than we do, but I'd still prefer to see it get closer to 100% of votes counted before anything's final.
