2012 Northeast Regional: Boston College, Air Force, Maine and Minnesota Duluth

Re: 2012 Northeast Regional: Boston College, Air Force, Maine and Minnesota Duluth

Someone will probably give you a ticket for practically nothing tonight. I can't imagine all the Maine fans going back to watch without their team in it.

Anyone interested, they're replaying the BU/Minnesota game now on ESPNU on channel 900 in my area.

Same here, games I have gone to, BU and Maine fans like to gloat and cheer when BC falters in the NCAAs or FF games. They say it out loud when they see your BC gear on. I was there in Milwaukee and St. Louis, etc. BC will go it alone without them and you know what? Who cares at this point and we will not root for them when they are in tournament play. Recently at the HE Tournament semis, Maine fans beside me ask me who I will root for. I said we don't care who wins except you guys can beat each other up before we play you in the next game. The Maine fan, an older gentleman was nice about it, and I will be cordial to any fans who are nice to me but I cannot root for their teams.

We're devastated.

I agree...but not if BC plays like Maine did. Happily, UMD probably thinks they're getting Maine 2.0 tonight.

UMD shut down Maine in a way that no other team in Hockey East has done this season. Yes, including BC.

I still give the Eagles an edge, but I'd have the team on upset alert. The frozen four starts a week early for BC; they'll need to be ready for it.

No doubt, BC is the favorite but I don't think anyone would call it a huge upset or even an upset at all if UMD wins.

Well, congrats to Air Force and Maine on great seasons this year. Tough way to go out for each team. In AFA's case, this is likely the end of their competitive hockey careers and they have a higher calling coming up in not too long for those seniors. God bless every single one of them. It was an honor just to be in their presence (and cool to see a guy behind the AFA bench in military uniform). Air Force was every bit as good as I expected them to be. Didn't think BC was that bad, this seemed like a good matchup for Air Force (kind of like Umass) and they likely just wanted to hang around as long as possible and see if they could catch lightning in a bottle. They did hang around and that is usually a bad thing for the 1 seeds. But BC sealed the deal. Tough break on that last call; it could have gone either way, seemed incidental but at the same time if AFA goes without a call and scores because Almeida couldn't backcheck that would have been brutal for BC.

Left after 1 period in Game 2 where Maine was all over UMD, which looked terrible. Seems like everything changed after the 2nd Maine goal. Still another great season for Maine and they exceeded expectations.

Once again, to reiterate, Air Force and all of our other servicemen and women rule. USA!!!!!!!

Ouch, you've managed to turn the BU fanboy joke around on to BC fans. That's some creativity right there! I simply can't counter that...

Just about to leave the house for Worcester. It's only a couple of minutes away. Watching the Minny - ND game and one thing stands out to me. North Dakota got so screwed!!! Their jerseys are Fugly!!! They used to be one of the best in all of college hockey and now this???

It's hard to take the outrage over the Fighting Sioux seriously when the country's top sports league has a franchise named "Redskins" - in the nation's capital, no less. I know, private franchise v public university, but still . . . North Dakota seems like an easy target.

As NWA might say, eff tha correctness police.

That said, it isn't the sweaters that look bad right now. :o

Maybe North Dakota has a WCHA-style comeback in them? Make this thing interesting?

it has nothing to do with it being a public university... private business vs. private entity legislating social policy upon it's member institution that happens to be a public university... that said, you're right, the jerseys are not what looks bad out there right now...

i actually think the sweaters look pretty sharp, lettering is just a little small... (i still prefer their old sweaters though)
