2012 Northeast Regional: Boston College, Air Force, Maine and Minnesota Duluth

Re: 2012 Northeast Regional: Boston College, Air Force, Maine and Minnesota Duluth

A lacrosse game is on instead of BC-Air Force.

Stop me if you've heard that one before. :p

Re: 2012 Northeast Regional: Boston College, Air Force, Maine and Minnesota Duluth

Air Force is already shorthanded and the game is only a minute old.

Too funny. Love, love, LOVE that they get so many timeouts! :D

Spencer abbott is in the maine lineup!

BC played bad. Weren't awful, but just did not play up to their own level. Give Air Force credit for making it extremely tough to generate anything.

But a win is a win and that is all you can ask for this time of the year.

Terrible call... handed BC that game.

Re: 2012 Northeast Regional: Boston College, Air Force, Maine and Minnesota Duluth

Whew! That was every bit as difficult and painful as I thought it would be. Give Air Force credit, they are NEVER an easy out come tournament time.

Maybe they should have scored a goal in the first 58 minutes.

Air Force played an amazing defensive game. That was the blueprint for how BU used to beat BC ten years ago - get in the passing lanes and disrupt BC's flow. In the end AF had a chance but left their offense at home. They had a few flurries, but you can't have ~20 SOG (or whatever the total was) and expect to win in the NCAA's.

Sorry to Air Force on that terrible call. Would have liked to seen that last minute played 5 on 5 like it should have been.

Are the officials ECAC or CCHA? eEther way its not been good. That last call on Bergman was a joke, and resulted in a PP goal. Good work refs.

I'd be ****ed if the roles were reversed for the late penalty but Air Force could've had a week & they wouldn't score. In a 1 and done, you can't rely on a refs call.

I completely agree with you. If that last min is played 5 on 5 there is .01% chance AF scores, still i really wanted to see that .01% chance.

Give AF props. Fought that one tooth and nail. Does the nation proud knowing we got hard working kids like that flying our planes when poop hits the fan.

Just back from Worcester.
BC/Air Force game: hmmmm... Never felt threatened by Air Force but I hate letting teams hang around like that. That cycling by Hayes-Kreider-Straight that generated BC's first goal was about as good as it gets at any level. That was a 30 second hi-lite reel. :)

Maine/Duluth: Maine had complete control of that game from the start... out-shooting, out-hustling, out-hitting Duluth all over the ice. THEN, the net was dislodged, the whistle never blew, UMD guys stood and watched as Mangene raced down ice and beat their goaltender for a good goal. From that point on, Maine stopped hitting and stopped skating, while Duluth started playing like a rabid dog. Talk about Jekyl/Hyde, on both sides. One thing Duluth did very well all game was penalty kill (even though they allowed one). They never let O'Neil get an open shot and did a great job shutting down the forwards down low. Something few teams have done well vs. Maine's PP this season.

BC/Duluth: Although my heart was with Maine, this is the match up I hoped for. If Duluth takes another 30 minutes off again on Sunday, it could be very painful. ;)

No because BC was already ahead at the time. It just prevented AF from having a slim chance of tying the game at the end.

Full credit to AF...very similar to BC's game against Alaska in 2010.

Glad this was our bad game...Now time to rattle off three good ones. The rest of the teams are playing for second place. Nice job to Air Force. I knew they were good when bombing defenseless women and children, but who knew they could fight a battle against a team their own size? Off to the wild blue ditch!
