Re: 2012 NFL Season - I dare Priceless to nuke me

Had my 10 Team Auction Draft on Sunday. We do it live every year, so much fun. Ignore the Round number, we place them by position, since it's an Auction there is no real round:

556459_4682581906255_1150065623_n.jpg

$260 Budget, we start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 2 DL, 2 LB, 2 DB.

PPR. 5 point bonus for going over 300 passing yards, 100 rushing/receiving yards. 5 point bonus for TD's over 40 yards.

Biggest difference is TE's get 2 points for every 15 yards, 3 bonus points at 90 yards.

Here's my team, and the dollar values for each player:

QB Drew Brees (44)
RB Darren McFadden (29)
RB Chris Johnson (43)
WR Marques Colston (23)
WR Jordy Nelson (30)
WRAntonio Brown (22)
TE Jermichael Finley (21)
K Sebastian Janikowski (1)
DL John Abraham (1)
DL Calias Campbell (1)
LB Paul Posluszny (1)
LB Stephen Tulloch (1)
DB Quintin Mikell (1)
DB Troy Polamalu (1)

----------------------------

QB Josh Freeman (1)
RB Stevan Ridley (16)
RB Donald Brown (7)
RB Ryan Williams (1)
WR Robert Meachem (6)
WR Jerome Simpson (1)
WR Nate Washington (1)
TE Brent Celek (2)
K Shayne Graham (1)
DL Robert Quinn (1)
LB Sean Weatherspoon (1)
DB Earl Thomas (1)

I feel like I had a solid draft. If my players stay healthy (big concern for McFadden), they should be consistent. I slightly overpaid for Nelson and Ridley, but they went early for their position so it was kind of setting the market. I think I got Finley for less than market value, as both Gronkowski and Graham went for $40.

I refuse to spend more than $1 on a K, and rarely spend more than $1 on each IDP. I had the 2nd scoring defense last year with all $1 guys, while the team that spend a total of $30 on their IDPs came in dead last, with no significant injuries.

I like my WR options a ton, as Brown and Colston should put up huge numbers. Nelson's a #2 guy in GB, but he also should put up solid numbers. I have good high ceiling backups as well.

Holy crap. Even without the IDP, I have to say, you guys have a LOT of roster spots. Two TEs and Ks?

One league I'm in is worse. We start 2QB, 4WR, 4RB, 2TE, 2K, and 2D, and there are 10 teams. That league is way too deep. Its a keeper league, and for what its worth, my roster is:

QB: Jay Cutler, Brandon Weeden, Kevin Kolb, Ryan Tannehill
WR: Brandon Lloyd, Wes Welker, Stevie Johnson, Denarius Moore, Reggie Wayne, Stephen Hill, Josh Morgan, Devin Hester, Nick Toon(IR)
RB: Arian Foster, LeSean McCoy, DeAngelo Williams, Peyton Hillis, Dexter McCluster, Robert Turbin
TE: Jimmy Graham, Aaron Hernandez, Jacob Tamme, Visanthe Shiancoe
K: Stephen Gostkowski, Mason Crosby, Mike Nugent
Def: San Diego, NY Giants, St. Louis
1 open roster spot

My quarterbacks suck, but I'm pretty decent everywhere else. I drafted the 2 rookie QB's this year hoping that at least one pans out.

edit: because it was bugging me that I had an open roster spot, I took a shot at Jermaine Simpson. Since the league is so deep, he's the best option out there, even though he's suspended for the first 3 or 4 games. I guess one of the good things about having such huge rosters is you can take a chance on a player like this, and it doesn't really hurt the team. I have time to see if guys will pan out, like Weeden and Tannehill.

Gosh, those are deep leagues. Mine is 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1W/R, 1W/T, 1K, 1D, and 12 teams, and by the end of the 18th round we're scraping the bottom. Here's my team, along with the round I have them at (we're allowed to keep 2 players drafted in the fourth round or later for up to two additional seasons after the year they were drafted, and they're kept in the same round they were originally drafted; I have Marshawn Lynch in the 5th and Cam Newton in the 13th, and won the league last year so picked 12th in a snake draft):

QB: Cam Newton (13), Russell Wilson (18)
RB: Jamaal Charles (2), Stevan Ridley (3), Marshawn Lynch (5), Ryan Williams (8), CJ Spiller (9), Rashard Mendenhall (11), Robert Turbin (17)
WR: Larry Fitzgerald (1), Vincent Jackson (4), Robert Meachem (6), Laurent Robinson (10), Jerome Simpson (15)
TE: Fred Davis (7), Coby Fleener (13)
K: Matt Prater (16)
D: Pittsburgh (14)

I'm especially encouraged that Mendenhall appears to be ahead of schedule and could be ready in another couple of weeks.

No, those are reserves. As I said above, we start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 2 DL, 2 LB, and 2 DB.

The board's just sorted that way to make it easier to see what people have and need.

Kluwe with a more detailed description of how "good" the replacement refs are...

http://deadspin.com/5940689?utm_cam...source=deadspin_twitter&utm_medium=socialflow

And yet 99% of the people judging these guys can't even define what constitutes "Pass Interference" or "Holding"... They can't even embrace the game at the level it's played at in the NFL...

Don't get me wrong, there is a reason that the replacement guys were working D-II or D-III and not the NFL.... But the amount of emphasis that this is getting is retarded... These guys are busting their asses doing the absolute best they can do... The media is just blowing this up in hopes of having a "Holy Roller" or "Immaculate Reception" type of moment to hang on these guys.... I really wonder if they are out to simply embarrass these guys...

Chris Kluwe isn't the media :p

I know. That's still far too many bench players. You shouldn't be able to draft two kickers AND two tight ends and leave the draft party without being mercilessly ridiculed. :D

Well in our league a Free Agent pickup is $5, or the original draft value. So benches are full so that players cost less. Not only that, there are no more FA buys after Week 10, so if something happens to a starter after that, you're screwed. Almost killed me last year. Vick AND Cutler went down and I was without a QB for 3 weeks.

I never liked auction drafts. I'm always afraid of getting Dave Hester'ed by someone.
