2012 Golf Season - No matter how you slice it, it's still fun.

Re: 2012 Golf Season - No matter how you slice it, it's still fun.

Going to warm up to high 50's / low 60's later this week. May try for 3 days of golf! Sunday may be a problem as the Redskins play Monday which means that 99% of the DC/MD households won't be watching football and may be out on the course.

Anyone out here affected by the anchored putter ban?

Anchored putter ban starts in 2016 correct? My golf buddy plays with a belly putter, and wasn't too thrilled with the rule change.

We did play this past Tuesday and then today. Beautiful round today, as it was sunny and 65 here in Denver. After a shaky front nine, I had a pretty solid 40 on the back nine. I had a putt from just off the green to break 40, but it lipped out...frustratingly close.

Getting up at 630 to finish up holes 91-108 of the weekend that began Thursday at 130p them fly back north

Re: 2012 Golf Season - No matter how you slice it, it's still fun.

I can't play more than 18 in a day any longer, so all those holes hurts my back just thinking about them.

Completely re doing my swing over the winter to fix a take away problem which is hurting my accuracy. IF I can get that done,( and I practice on it every day) then I will be going to alabama to play the RTJ golf trail in March.

I don't play like most of you all here though. Usually 1 round and two days on practice tee and another round. I'd love to go to the Greenbriar to play next summer, but the fees are somewhat on the high side.

no. flew with the titleist 690mb irons with me to practice some. i found that i am not hitting the bottom of the clubface with the irons. missed a ton of greens.

Do you mean you are topping the ball slightly or exactly what? Are you slicing or is it your front hip flying out and you hooking?

i am coming in just short of the ball and making contact on the top half of the club face. the sweet spot on the muscle backs is low, so i was coming up short 20yds on more than enough shots for comfort.

Sounds like you need some time on the practice tee and a lesson. Very easy for the bottom of the arc to migrate a bit.

New clubs for chanuakah/bday, very excited. Now I won't have to borrow my friend's wife's clubs... new Pats covers for the woods/driver, too. I'm looking pretty snazzy for next year!

EDIT: Still have money left on the gift certificate I got for my Bday last year for lessons/practice balls. My goal is to get par on at least one hole next season!

Re: 2012 Golf Season - No matter how you slice it, it's still fun.

Santa brought me a set of Adams A4 forged irons to replace my tried & true but tired A1 irons and an Adams cart bag to hold them.
Too bad there's a blizzard outside. I guess I'll have to hit the indoor range sometime soon.

He's going to deliver a new set of irons for Mrs. P -- she just doesn't know about it yet. :)

got another SC trip coming up MLK weekend. gonna hit some high end joints this time (as opposed to what we hit last time ;))

Re: 2012 Golf Season - No matter how you slice it, it's still fun.

Getting very anxious for the season to start. I tried those A-4 Irons out and they were great. Maybe next year. Right now I use A 70's. got a new bag for Christmas plus membership in USGA and Michigan GA, and the Tom Watson dvd's that they play all the time at the PGA stores.
I'm having trouble with my hip turn because part of the time, instead of turning my forward hip all the way, I let it slide out and that pushes the ball out to the right.

Used to go with a bunch of guys each year, 7 rounds in 3 days of various match settings. Including travel, 4.5 days of drinking, golf, strippers and no sleep. Ahhh, the good ole days

i've not been up there for some time. all my recent visits have been on the south end, and the same with the Jan trip (CHS/HHI). used to be a staple on my calendar, but now???? miss it though.

Where do you golf in SC? Bigblue and I are looking to get a couple rounds in around the Greenville area.
Also any recommendations on travel bags for my clubs?
