2012 Golf Season - No matter how you slice it, it's still fun.

Re: 2012 Golf Season - No matter how you slice it, it's still fun.

Where do you golf in SC? Bigblue and I are looking to get a couple rounds in around the Greenville area.
Also any recommendations on travel bags for my clubs?

clubglider.com

i use this.

if bb_dl gets off his lazy arse and throws his big $$ at a interlachen or hazeltine, he could get his head pro to call up greenville cc ;) they have 36h, but the chantileer course is top 100 material.

---oh, and i have been playing in hhi lately and up in beaufort. i'm going to be in CHS too next month.

My usual mid-90's round today, although instead of losing strokes around and on the green, I lost them mid long iron. If it ain't one thing, its another. Oh well, beautiful mid-80 degree day, and a fun round. Made possibly my sweetest up and down from a brutal stance, so that was quite fun.

bb_dl doesn't have Interlachen or Hazeltine money if he sold everything he owned. :p

With regard to the travel bags. The airlines will not insure anything but the hard sided ones. They are about 200 dollars around here. The soft sided ones are much better sellers, and are nice, but if the clubs get damages in them, the airline will not pay.So it kind of depends on how much risk you are taking. if you travel a lot, i'd get a hard sided one.

I've made due with my soft sided one for a while now. My trick is to pack some of my clothes around the top. I also have an alignment tool that sticks out about an inch above my woods when its in my bag so that helps keep the top from pressing down on them. It seems to work fairly well, but if I travelled more I would probably buy a hard sided case because every time I use my current one I'm freaked out about something happening to my clubs.

I know that works fairly well. You could always ship fed ex, which is fairly attractive to lesson the worry and certainly easy, though it is a little expensive.

I've been traveling with a soft case my Dad used to use. Never had any issues, but never had clubs really worth protecting. Now that I've got mostly new sticks, if I fly again I'll be getting a hard case just to be safe.

mookie gots himself a 1 1/4in dowel rod at home depot that he sticks in his golf bag to protect the contents. said rod is taller than any of the sticks as as alluded to already, mookie wraps his golf towel around the rod and woods then belts them. outside of an employee opening the bag and actually snapping a club there is no way he can figure something will break.

Mookie needs to stop talking like Wade Boggs.

Not good. Not good at all. The Scots are a superstitious people, and I've heard of the same process used hundreds of years ago by poor Scottish highlanders to cast a snap-hook spell on sticks used by wealthy landowners to play their foolish games.

Watching Rory at his presser yesterday morning, I couldn't believe he wore blue jeans and tennis shoes to announce his multi million dollar deal.

Re: 2012 Golf Season - No matter how you slice it, it's still fun.

was looking for some video or illustrations on good pre-season stretching/fitness...found a lot of articles that were lead ins for buying some equipment or a health club program but I just wanted a few exercises/stretches to add to my new year's resolution routine

Had real trouble with front shoulder last year, strained something and the first 2-3 warmup swings were always very painful...then strained elbow ligament throwing lacrosse ball with son...that hasn't gone away

There was something in Golf Digest a few months back, but mine's already in the wife's classroom.

Reports are out that Tiger is dating Lindsay Vonn. Does she use a ski pole or a ski to smash the Cadillac when he cheats?
