“ (Paul Revere) warned the British they wouldn’t be taking away our arms,”

The person who said this needs to be President of the United States. As soon as possible.

They actually retconned Wikipedia until somebody caught them. The Conservapedia entry has already been edited.

There's really not much else you can say about these people other than they literally don't know any better.

I saw that. The attempted wiki edit sourced Palin's claim to . . . statements made by a major American politician. It then cited the fact that a Boston TV station aired the nonsense as evidence of the veracity of Palin's claim.

To me, that was actually funnier than the edit itself. But I'm a geek like that.

The Wikipedia thing is still ongoing

([MASS ABUSE ALERT] BEWARE of "revisionist" tea partiers falsely rewriting history and spamming this page to cover up Sarah Palin's misquotes.)

It's what the Echo Chamber does every day. They're just not used to having to abide by, I'd say peer review, but let's put the bar at basic respect for fact.

The great thing about the dittoheads is this time next week every one of them will have always known that Paul Revere was a British agent. That's the way their Ministry of Truth works. In its own way, it's quite beautiful, and utterly self-sustaining.

In other news, the New Deal prolonged the Great Depression and the 2008 recession was caused by the Community Reinvestment Act.

At this point, I hope conservatives are welcoming the piling on. Palin's idiotic paparazzi tours are nothing but a worthless ego-feed for a nonexistent political campaign, and the sooner that imaginary career gets put in the grave, the better for all concerned. The question is, what will it finally take to get her to go away and shut up?

This doesn't really go here but it's a great story on an institution that makes the US Congress look ethical, honest and upstanding -- I refer of course to the DC City Council.

This is about the sixth guy this year who is going to go down because he stole public funds to pay for his personal wheels. The Haters should love it, too, because all the crooks involved are Dems. ;)

Thomas gets credit for the biggest cajones for literally driving to the courthouse in a vehicle bought with money embezzled from a fund for underprivileged kids' sports. Keepin' it classy!

BTW, this raises the odds of a Republican takeover of the city council in the next election to "a snowball's chance in hell."

So he could play QB for Ohio State?

I was thinking USC, but yeah, same thing. :)

Well, with the car it seemed like a natural equivalent for Terrelle Pryor's eight cars, including driving (with a suspended license) a $25,000 car the day allegations came down.

Re: 2012 Elections Part I: All Politics is Yokel

Pawlenty wants to eliminate the Federal Government altogether. I guess that means he really doesn't want to be President.

Pawlenty also said he would apply a "Google Test" to the federal budget.

"If you can find a service or a good available on Google or the Internet, then the federal government probably doesn't need to be providing that good or service," he said. He indicated that the U.S. Postal Service, the Government Printing Office, and Amtrak train service as programs that that could be eliminated or significantly curtailed under his plan.

Why do strict constitutionalists want to disband the post office? It's freaking listed by name!

Article I said:
The Congress shall have the Power...To establish Post Offices and post Roads;

Not sure. But this basically means that he wants to eliminate Medicare and Social Security. I can buy a health plan privately and I can certainly get my own retirement plan and/or insurance of whatever sort.

You could also argue that the FBI isn't needed. And I'm sure there's a thousand other things we could come up with. The funny thing is in the same speech he said he was going to publish his own plan for Medicare? Why? If it's private it should be cut runs counter to that.

Hypocrisy for the win I guess.

What exactly is the private equivalent of Amtrak? The US Post Office can be outsourced to FedEx or UPS, the GPO to Kinko's...but who provides train service the way Amtrak does? Is there a private enterprise I'm unaware of that can carry passengers by rail from New York to DC? Boston to Chicago? Seattle to LA?
