2012 D2 Football thread: Every day I'm shuffling!!!

Re: 2012 D2 Football thread: Every day I'm shuffling!!!

Interesting shuffling of spots in region 3, with St. Cloud tumbling to #7, despite winning over the weekend. Pittsburg State jumped to #5 after a win over nobody special, and Emporia State jumped ahead of St. Cloud after getting thrashed by NW Missouri. I haven't seen a good explanation of why St. Cloud took such a tumble, but it does make the playoffs suddenly look unlikely for the Huskies.

This makes me laugh.:p

Strength of Schedule. The NSIC plays nobody but themselves, which means the league is always going to have a SOS of .500. The MIAA has a bunch of good non conference wins that raises the league's SOS to be a lot higher than what the NSIC's SOS is.

Re: 2012 D2 Football thread: Every day I'm shuffling!!!

Beat writer for the Huskies weighs in on Twitter.

Was told by a member of Super Region 3 football committee today that it's all based on strength of schedule and winning percentages of foes.

Then why is Pitt State and Emporia State ahead of SCSU when they are 150 and 151 in strength of schedule in all of D-II and SCSU is 117?

SCSU's opponents have a .478 win percentage. Emporia's foes are .429 and Pittsburg State's opponents are at .423.

After next week, applying this week's records, Emporia goes up to .471, SCSU is at .470 and Pitt is at .442. It makes no sense how SCSU is 7

Oh, and by the way, the Pitt State AD is the co-chair of the selection committee for Super Region 3. I have calls in. Will they call back?

Then explain what I posted from the SCTimes writer.

Beats me at the moment. I'm just trying to figure out Region 4 at the moment. At least for GVSU it's a simple win and you're in the playoffs. Just have the task of beating Saginaw Valley, who's pretty much in the same win and you're in the playoffs, although it's a little more likely they could still make the playoffs with a loss, but a few of the other bouncing balls out there would need to land their way.

But over on the D2 message boards everyone was saying that if Pittsburg State and St. Cloud won out, they both have one loss and St. Cloud would have a higher SOS than Pittsburg State at the end of the season, so St. Cloud would be in. Emporia State is more complicated, given their upcoming game with Washburn. There was some speculation that committee members might find a way to leverage the Gorillas into the field if it was close, based upon their reputation, which to me is the only thing I can find to hang my hat on at this point.

SR4: guesses

1) Colorado-State Pueblo 2) Ohio Dominican 3) Indianapolis 4) Grand Valley 5) Saginaw Valley 6) West Texas A&M

That matchup could take another year or so off of my life right now.
