Missouri can have some pretty nasty weather this time of year. Probably not quite the brutal cold that Minnesota can get, but still nasty stuff to play in. GVSU fans still hate the fact that we got shipped to Northwest Missouri State in 2007 to play the Bearcats in the middle of an ice storm. That game snapped the Lakers 3 year unbeaten streak.

Mavs win 17-10 over Misery Western, and host Valdosta State next saturday. Valdosta is from way down in southern Georgia, very close to Florida. If I was a Mav's fan, I would hoping for a nice little cold snap, maybe have a nice little Alberta clipper come thru and drop a couple of inches. Them Georgia boys just don't have snow tires.

Oh, that brings back happy memories of me 2002 when Catawba came to Allendale for the Semifinals that year. It was pretty clear to all of us that they were not happy with the idea of that they had to play out in the cold like that, and they sure played like it. Think we sang a lot of wintery carols at them, and there may have been a snowball or two tossed near them. And we did have a little lake effect flurries that day as well. Had a ball sticking around for the whole game, where we then all rushed the field and took down the goal post. Then me and my roommates all made plans that evening to head on down to the championship game the next weekend. Good times man.

I am rooting for the Mavs to pull through and become the second NSIC team with National Title. If they end up winning relatively easily, a strong argument could be made that Mankato, MoWest, NorthwestMo and UMD are the top 4 teams in the nation.

We got three inches of snow last night, they're cleaning off the field for today's game. Looking at right around 33 degrees for the game, winds of 10 MPH.

And with all of that, Valdosta State still won today 35-19. And to top it all off, West Texas A&M lost to Winston-Salem 41-18 tonight. The gorum Mayans were right!!!
