Re: 2012 D1 BCS thread

You think they'll ever get the recruits to become a good program? Not "decent", good.

I just don't see it happening, sue me.

Don't need to sue you. If WI, NW, IA and places like Oregon, Oregon St and others of that tier can win I don't see why it can't happen here. Be a fatalist I don't care.

Re: 2012 D1 BCS thread

Terrible play calling from al borges...this game can be won.

Man, that second half was horrible. Once Robinson scored his TD, OSU seemed to know exactly what he was going to do.

Seems like Al could have been a lot more creative with the pair in at the same time. Oh, well. OSU played killer D in the 2nd half- enough that they were in position to be way up- but Michigan's bendable D held in for just 6 points- they did pretty well, all things considered.

Re: 2012 D1 BCS thread

Mattison is a terrific defensive coordinator. As great as Robinson is as a runner, will be interesting to see what the offense looks like next year when they have a QB that is a better fit for what they want to do. Still, that second half play calling...I just didn't understand.

I think I'll actually watch the national championship game this year. Notre Dame vs. the SEC should have plenty of entertainment value.

The Irish need to start every year in Ireland now.
Now I hope Georgia beats Alabama

Re: 2012 D1 BCS thread

The thing the Gophers don't have is true, loyal fans. It's tough to do in a city with an NFL team, but they had to have had about 30,000 fans today actually in the stadium for Senior Day against a decent team to move to 7 wins. For example, coming off of two 7-5 years, and having a 4-7 football team, and Kinnick Stadium is jam packed yesterday, albeit with 8-10,000 Nebraska fans, but still. 60,000 Iowa fans.

What kid wants to go to a school that schedules cucpcakes for non conference schedules, and gets beat up in front of a half full stadium, as well as one that is notorious for letting more than 10,000+ fans from Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska, etc?

Agreed. Add K-State to that list. They were in much worse shape than the Gophers have ever been before Snyder came along. I don't know that it will ever happen here, but it certainly isn't impossible.

I actually agree that it isn't impossible. I am just jaded.

What about coach Kill, though? I love the guy, but like grey said this has to be a distraction. The whole situation just sucks.

Edit: Just to clarify, I am not talking about the game of football when I say the situation sucks.

FWIW Teague stated that the University has 100 percent confidence in Kill moving forward.

It's got to be somewhat of a distraction. Losing your coach for the 2nd half of a ball game is a tough adjustment.

Re: 2012 D1 BCS thread

Its sad to see it for a guy like Kill to have finally have his shot at a BCS school after working his way up from such outposts as Saginaw Valley State and Emporia State. But to keep having seizures like that during the game, I think its time somebody offers him a cushy behind the scenes job that wouldn't have him where he wouldn't just keel over in front of the team that often. something in administration would be good.
