Cool piece on the Hawks/North Stars rivalry on the pregame on NBC.

Man, those were the days. I was at a couple of the games that J.R. mentioned. :D

Re: 2012-13 NHL Thread. Fehr Thee Well??

Used to go to a lot of North Stars/Hawks games back in the day. I know, I've mentioned it a few times. :o Anyway...

This is a photo of the print of a photo that I took back in 89 or so - don't care to bother with a scan. Moments after this, both teams gathered around and did the pair-off and find a friend to hug and wrestle with although I don't remember punches being thrown. Wish I had my DSLR setup back then instead of whatever pos with flash (obviously) that I was using.

They didn't have refs on the ice during the pregame back then. If the teams decided to brawl, there was no stopping them. Do they now?

Nope. And the AHL doesn't either. I've seen two dust-ups at the Allstate Arena since moving to Chicagoland where the Rosemont cops had to hustle to the penalty boxes to get the guys to separate.

"There was some odor on that goal."

-Pierre Mcguire :D

It's pulled pork... I mean Corey Crawford. Get him rattled and he'll let 'em all in.

... Oh, right. Once AHL sieves move up a level, they're suddenly invincible. See: Pekka Rinne, Jimmy Howard, Kari Lehtonen.

That was Denis Savard asking Basil McRae how come he did not get a part in "The Mighty Ducks".

More likely, Savard writing checks with his mouth that his teammates would have to cover. ;)

So you literally are a FIB! :D

Good game so far and it could go anyway...

Yep. Grew up down there although I don't really identify with that part of my life any more. Parents moved back to Wisconsin after retirement in '95.

Parents are UW alumni which is how I became a Badger fan.

Close game. Hawks coming back to earth after a pretty good start to the season.

Defensive breakdowns are costing both teams. Game could easily be 4-4.

Is there anyone in the NHL with better puck handling moves than Patty Kane?
