Re: 2012-13 NHL Thread. Fehr Thee Well??

Tried looking into tickets and can't find a release date yet either...

I don't think single game ticket sales have begun yet. Was looking for a date/time for that, but can't even find a rumor. Detroit's home opener isn't until the 22nd, so I'm guessing their announcement won't be until at least this Tuesday morning. Don't know Chicago's.

According to DirecTV, the Center Ice package is still being negotiated.

I'm not expecting any deal from the NHL.

What everyone is forgetting (and is politely pointed out in this article) is that the Pay-Per-View company inDEMAND is the provider of the NHL Center Ice package. They're the middle man that provides all the NHL game feeds in one simple package for DirecTV/Comcast/Time Warner/etc.

Calling and complaining to DirecTV for free Center Ice isn't going to do much good. Even if you get it free this year, they still have to pay inDemand for the service. Who in turn has to pay the NHL licensing rights to air the games.

If anything, Gamecenter Live should be free (or very heavily discounted) for this season.

In fact make it $99 and you get this season and next season combined.

Going back to what teams are doing for fans:

While it was more impromptu, it sounded like most/all the Oilers players went to a local rink and did an old fashioned game of 'sticks in the middle' shinny hockey. Looking at the picture Ryan Whitney posted on twitter, numerous fans went to watch.

It all started as some chirping between Hall and Eberle on twitter, and just snowballed from there. Pretty neat.

I saw a video on twitter; looked pretty awesome!

It looks like Gamecenter Live is $49 for this season. Meh. Not exactly a deep discount for essentially half a season. I'll pass even though I had it last season.

Re: 2012-13 NHL Thread. Fehr Thee Well??

I'd imagine the Sabres have trouble giving their tickets away, so it doesn't seem like much of an accomplishment.

Considering there have been thoughts that the Buffalo/Hamilton/Toronto area could support a third NHL team, I highly doubt it. Remember, we're talking the Sabres, not the Bills. ;)

Gary Bettman put out a statement:

The hockey is back thing really irked me as well.

I am still probably going to buy tickets for a couple games, though.

Still nada from Directv about Center Ice.

NHL is BACK! It will be available for sale starting on Sat., January 19.
