Re: 2012-13 NHL Thread. Fehr Thee Well??

Would have been hilariously awesome if they had just awarded it to some beer league champ or a U-10 girls team or something.

NHL & Players: You're cheapening the effort we put in to get our name on that!

Cup people: "You do that yourselves when you take every 7th year off, toolbags."

I know we don't agree on much, nick. However, I'm completely behind this idea.

Text of Fehr's letter to the players: http://espn.go.com/blog/nhl/post/_/id/19875/donald-fehrs-latest-letter-to-players

Seems like #3 was a good starting point, but, again according to Fehr, the owners' proposal of last Tuesday is their final offer.
I have to agree. It just seems ridiculous that the owners want the players to take a huge cut in salary in the face of record revenue and the fact that the players took a huge cut last CBA.

I just don't see how even #3 was rejected so quickly. The owners really are morons.

Meanwhile in Rodina, he really does have a hard head (in the finest Soviet tradition)

They aren't stupid. They know the players will capitulate sooner or later, just like last time.

The owners taking the hard line is all predicated on the fans returning in mass after the lockout is over, regardless of how long it last or how greedy either side acts.

They're probably right as far as Canada and parts of the northern-US.

They may as well go all in and throw in folding Phoenix, a Florida team and another team or two in areas where people aren't going to come back if the season is cancelled.

Why not?

That's the question I keep asking... At what point does this "Take off every 7th season" mentality finally become fatal to a franchise??? Sooner or later it's going to happen in pro sports... Sadly, the NHL seems to want to be the 1st league to suffer this....

The fans not returning just gives them the excuse to lock the players out again in another couple of years to get a bigger slice of the pie.

Starting to worry they could cancel the whole season and STILL not come up with a new CBA...:(

This documentary is a must see for hockey fans.

Former Penn State Icers Mike Messner and Sean Kenney and his father Harry are among the several producers of the film.

It'll be interesting to see what this does for the Islanders... It makes them tons more accessible for fans than what they had at the Colosseum... Now if they can only put a winning product on the ice....

Re: 2012-13 NHL Thread. Fehr Thee Well??

Confirmed by multiple sources. But will there be a league to play in??

No one drafts and develops players better than Garth Snow.
