2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

I forgot to ask...So, does BC now move up in the rankings due to their 2 late goals tonight????

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

After today's game, the KRACH ranking has BC at #23, ten spots behind RIT.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

What is Cournoyer's status for UMD? They miss her up front.

I suspect recurring issues with her back that has taken her out of games before. Definite loss of leadership and hustle when #10 is not on the ice.

Apparently, due to recurring back injury, she is done...as in DONE HOCKEY.

Unfortunately, and sadly, it would appear that one of my comments in the 'Dog thread back in February after the dust up with MSU's, Means and Smith, has proven somewhat prescient. I certainly wish it hadn't. Someone should send the memo to Means and Smith reminding them of Smith's unprovoked attack on Cournoyer from behind in the crease with seconds left to go in the game immediately after she had decked Irwin, acting on Means' instructions. That caused Cournoyer to sit in the stands during several games following that incident.

She's obviously made the intelligent/right decision but unfortunately after having been, dare I say, criminally assisted by being placed in the position of having to make it by Means and Smith.

From Wikipedia:

The students adopted a shade of forest green ("Dartmouth Green") as the school's official color in 1866. Beginning in the 1920s, the Dartmouth College athletic teams were known by their unofficial nickname "the Indians," a moniker that probably originated among sports journalists. This unofficial mascot and team name was used until the early 1970s, when its use came under criticism. In the 1974, the Trustees declared the "use of the [Indian] symbol in any form to be inconsistent with present institutional and academic objectives of the College in advancing Native American education." Some alumni and students, as well as the conservative student newspaper, The Dartmouth Review, have sought to return the Indian symbol to prominence, but no team has worn the symbol on its uniform in decades. The new nickname was inspired by The Dartmouth Green in the center of campus.

The school was originally started to educate the local natives.

Interesting commentary. There have been criminal charges in sports (boxing comes to mind) so I wonder based on Means public comments afterward if this wouldn't warrant at least a civil case.....

Good Friend- thanks for your welcome back!
New season- Yippee!!

See how it goes tonight in South Jersey. Too, glad for the opinion- favorable (!) on Stacey!
Thanks.

And, too, thanks and enjoyed all comments.
That was a long stretch of wins by Coach Jeremiah.

[Wouldn't you (some here in Norwalk, do) have thought he, Coach Jeremiah, a Hall of Fa-mer, I believe... with so much experience- so many years of observing talent, say, would see, might have seen (perhaps, even- needed, to see) the solid possibilities-potential there for his future Ivy champions, maybe?]

As to a new season, Dartmouth wasn't decimated, then again they didn't return most of their players like I believe I read the Ivy team- if I have my geography right, in extreme eastern Massachusetts, say, did.

But can't we say, Something getting fannies-in-seats in Hanover?

I believe is more than solitude. I like to think is linked to coach. Many there (and in Norwalk), think he able. Is it that coach grows, 'people'; too, produces many credible on-ice results?

UMD 1 BC 0 after one. UMD really needs to work on their power play. Field for BC putting out some serious effort up and down the ice.

Live stats not working from the Princeton/Dartmouth game. Anyone else having difficulty? Must mean that Dartmouth has taken an early lead?

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

BC 2 UMD 1 after two. BC went ahead on a power play goal by Motherwell with Gillanders sitting it the box for a relatively undisciplined penalty. With their scoring power not what it has been in recent years UMD has got to keep a lid on that stuff as they have so far this season, especially with the permanent loss of Cournoyer. A lot more penalties in tonight's game and a lot fewer shots on goal.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Just popped over to the RMU vs NU game for a few minutes. That really IS nice quality video as was previously explained, possibly in another thread a week or so ago.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Wisco 2
UNH 0 at the end of one.

Sylvester with a PP tally, and Decker on a 4x4 breakaway off the neutral zone faceoff.

Shots 11-9 in Bucky's favor.

RMU ties NU with pulled goalie and 26 sec left in the game. 3-3 Thomas with the Hatty. OT.

Dartmouth defeats Princeton 3-1.

Penn State beating RIT 2-1 after 2.

Ohio State leading 4-1 in the 3rd. Make that FINAL.

FINAL: BC 3, UMD 2. BC's Alex Carpenter scored a power play goal early in the third to make it 3-1, but Shara Jasper scored with just under 12 minutes to play to narrow the lead to one. But UMD couldn't get the equalizer, and iced the puck with 16 second remaining which really hurt.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Ohio State gets back on the winning track, defeating Bemidji State 4-1. Taylor Kuehl, Mintuu Tuominen, Julia McKinnon, and Paige Semenza score for the Buckeyes, and Natasha Kostenko had the lone Beaver goal. Chelsea Knapp (OSU) made 29 saves.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

BC 3 UMD 2 Final.

Penalties cost UMD the game. They had enough opportunities but didn't convert.

BC puck carriers seemed to have difficulty using their team mate when they got a 2 on 1. They had several tonight and each time the puck carrier just shot it from 15-20 ft out, several times missing the net completely. But those weren't necessary in order to get the win tonight.
