2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

After one period, Minnesota 1, North Dakota 0. Amanda Kessel drove to the net from the sidewall and stuffed it in five-hole. Shots on goal officially 7-4 for UND. Noora Räty stopped a couple good chances from the green and white late in the period.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Updates:

Wisconsin gets second period goals by Courtney Burke and Madison Packer to go up 3-0 over UNH. That game now early in the 3rd.

EDIT: Decker scores her second goal of the game for the Badgers. Now 4-0 with 17:40 to go.

A wild second period with numerous penalties and two goals by each team sees Minnesota leading North Dakota 3-2 at the second intermission. Amanda Kessel and Kelly Terry had the Gopher goals; Meghan Dufault has both goals for UND. Minnesota will start the 3rd period on a power play with 40 seconds on the latest UND penalty carrying over.

FINALS --

Wisconsin got one more goal and finished off New Hampshire, 5-0.

Minnesota got an insurance goal from Milica McMillen and completed the sweep of North Dakota, 4-2. The Gophers outshot UND 16-5 in the third and 33-18 for the game.

Yale beats Colgate 3-0; matches win total from 2011-12 season.

Cornell survives Yale, 3-2.

While Leonoff was scary good, Cornell dominated the play about 58 minutes of the game. Yale scored on a fluky miscue on a PP and then later on 5 on 3. I would say less than half of their 12 shots were generated during 5 on 5. So, while Yale is much improved from last year, the game was much different than the score indicates.

Edited to add: This does go to show that a hot goalie can win any game in NCAA! The night before Brown was way outshot by the Big Red as well, but Jamieson was stellar in net, only got scored on once (2nd goal was EN).

BC 6
BU 1 13 minutes left in third. BC playing rather dirty, refs doing a **** poor job

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

BC 7
BU 1 Final

Shots 36-33 in BC's favor. BU with only three shots in third

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Wow, did ANYONE (other than perhaps TTT ;)) see this coming? Not just the win, but by a margin of 6?

Not me. Did not see that one coming. Looks like somebody got hit by Sandy and that one of the Wednesday Women's reporters may have to take a double take. Wow is right.

With all due respect, I.don't think we were watching the same game.

Also, the shot count was ridiculous. The ice was tilted for like 2/3 of the game. No way did BC only outshoot them by 3.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

I was watching a different game too Hux. I thought the officials missed a lot of calls both ways. The dirtiest play of the night was a vicious after the whistle crosscheck to the back by MPP and the second was a deliberate knee on knee by a player in white in the neutral zone the former drew a call the latter did not

If I remember correctly, the MPP hit (vicious crosscheck to the back is probably accurate) came just moments after a similarly vicious hit by a BC player in front of the net that was not called. There were certainly moments where one might wonder if the officials were watching a different game than Hux, GoalieDad35, Iceisnice or anyone else in the building.

The play before Poutine crosschecked Bolden in the back was behind the net, both players tried to turn the goal in opposite directions (Bolden counterclockwise and Poutine clockwise) and they just ran in to each other.

Re: 2012-13 D1 Scores and Results

Having said that, it wasn't like Poutine was trying to break her spine or anything. She wasn't making any "cold, calculated, brutal attempts" to hurt her. It was frustration, she threw a cross-check, and got a penalty for it. Your garden variety frustration hockey penalty.
