2011 Posters' Game - St Paul

Re: 2011 Posters' Game - St Paul

This is less out of the way for me and Matt's Bar! Jucy Lucies!

Re: 2011 Posters' Game - St Paul

I'll bet my peewee/bantam would like to ref.:D He has the real dark glasses and white cane to go with the ref shirt.

This!!! Hell, a kid ref is likely the only way a zebra wouldn't get strung up in this crowd. ;)

Re: 2011 Posters' Game - St Paul

Well...seeing as you are playing at Augsburg, which is not too far a trek for me I guess I could stop by and cheer you on. (No Sean I will not be "skating" you have seen how ridiculous that can be ;) )

I can help out where needed...I have a digital camera so I can take pics or I can sit in the box and keep stats or I can pretend like I have a rooting interest in one of the teams and yell obscenities :P

I will email boston so I dont get jumped at the door ;)

Re: 2011 Posters' Game - St Paul

I can officiate if someone provides me with a whistle! :D

I have an official NCAA ref jersey too... so I'm set there.

Re: 2011 Posters' Game - St Paul

OK, bad news time. I messed up on the St. Thomas ice and failed to hold it. :o:o:o:o Sorry everyone.

We are at Augsburg instead. Another DIII program. All the St. Paul rinks were either full, or closed for any time comparable. Up until today I was working with St. Thomas and thought I could regain that time, but it fell through.

We have ice at Augsburg Rink B from 11:45 AM to 2:00 PM with a required resurface in the middle (at least us out-of-shape types can catch our breath then). Parking will be a little harder as the campus lots will be charging then, but there is some on-street available. I think it'll still be a good time, but the logistics will be a little harder. Augsburg is 7.5 miles from the X, about 12 minutes drive time.
Directions

Hope we don't lose too many skaters due to this change.

AWESOME!!! :D
Random question--do you know if the rink has wi-fi? This will be essential for game-thread posting as per my journalist responsibilities.

I sincerely doubt it. The B rink doesn't even have locker rooms. Not kidding. They have "changing rooms" instead. So after you change, you should take your bag over by the boards, close to where the western bench is.

I'm not an Auggie Tech rink fan, but I'm still in.

What are we at with 22 people @ 2 hours during the summer, $10/skater?

Re: 2011 Posters' Game - St Paul

I dunno Quiz's/BroGin's plans, or if bbdl/Shirtless are driving, but since I'm staying at a hotel in St Paul sans vehicle, I MAY need a ride. I would rather not cab it. I promise to find out in the next two days.

That, and I am horrible with directions. I'd get lost.

I am sure you wont have issue finding a ride but if you need I can totally get you.

I'm pretty sure I won't need a ride, either, but this event has got me all topsy-turveyed coordinating stuff (hotel, rides, plans, hospitality, etc).

So i'm going to need to find a place to shower before the game then?

If you need one shoot me an email. I have absolutely no plans aside from this for the weekend and could swing it no problem.

Re: 2011 Posters' Game - St Paul

I'm most likely walking by the rink tomorrow. I can go in and see what kind of wifi signals my phone can pick up. Even if the rink itself doesn't have wifi, there might be a signal from the city's wireless, which I believe I hypothetically have access to. And there's always the option of tethering to a smart-phone (which could be even better than wifi if I can get a Sprint 4G signal in there).

The rates I was quoted for a Saturday prime time don't look much like "summer" rates to me. It looks like it'll be in the $15-17/skater range. I'll set the rate early next week.

I got you covered if you need a lift.

Re: 2011 Posters' Game - St Paul

Is Augsburg rink the place just off Riverside and a few blocks from Washington ave. and the highway?

I believe I am staying at the same hotel as you, so could give you a ride, too.
