2011 Poser Of The Year Election

Re: 2011 Poser Of The Year Election

This would be a classic example of an approach/avoidance conflict.

Thank you, I think. :D

You are probably the first real odds favorite to win in quite a while. :p

Edit: tradition also dictates that you only have to have it in your sig until the next person wins, but since it's over as of now, I'm declaring a one-year term, no matter what happens. :)

Good. I can slip back into the anonymity I so richly deserve.

During that year, however, I draw the line at wearing the tiara and sash.

Slow clap as Brent commences his final farewell. Yes, a solemn farewell it is! The whole country, rapt. O the many hours given by this great poser to his board. One's mind goes back to the great posers of the past. And now, as we watch, Brent enters that hallowed menagerie, with the appreciation of an entire nation sounding valorously in his ears.

*tear*

If it weren't for CommAvHusky, none of this would have been possible. As he handed the torch to me, I hope to hand it to someone else. It's been an honor, ladies and germs...I now bid you adieu....

Logan's Run had a better idea...

Re: 2011 Poser Of The Year Election

Congrats to Old Pio, your 2011 Poser Of The Year!

Tradition dictates that Old Pio has this status in his signature, but obviously there is no way to enforce it. We hope he accepts this dishonor with dignity and follows tradition.

And so ends this event for good, unless someone decides to take over in running the election next year. Again, candidates for this position can email me through the board.

I see he has graciously accepted. Congratulations.

Speaking of tradition, rather than retire the election, why not simply pass on the responsibility of running the subsequent year's election along with the title?

As you say, no way to enforce it....at the same time, the "responsibliity" does not mean actually doing it, the 2011 Poser of the Year merely makes sure the 2012 Poser of the Year election is held, the 2012 Poser manages the 2013 election, etc.

Re: 2011 Poser Of The Year Election

There is one applicant so far. The deadline is the beginning of the next MN college hockey season (exhibitions don't count) to apply.

Very good idea. With great power comes great responsibility.

Also I'd love to see the Group Stage names Pio would come up with. "John Kerry Coward Division." "Jane Fonda Traitor Division." "Ted Kennedy Murderer Division." ... :D

I'm trying to figure out whether Fresh Fish is really an uber word geek or is making an early Mookie-esque run at the '12 POTY.

He's definitely trying to take over as the worst starter of threads, but he's got a long way to take down osorojo.

If you want to be successful, you don't make a whole bunch of stupid threads. You make ONE meme thread that is simple and to the point.
