Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

Henrik Sedin wins the war of words with Mike Milbury.

“My son told me a man was making fun of me and Uncle Danny on TV. I said that can’t be true because that’s what usually happens in kindergarten. That’s what happened. Sometimes grown-ups have low self-esteem and get on guys and say stupid stuff.
“I think he has to be happy with his career. He did a great job on Long Island. I’m sure he is happy with that.”

It makes sense to me that Luongo's talking that way. For goalies, 90% of the game is 50% mental.
I wish more players would talk this way after games. Yes, it provides bulletin board material for the opponent, but it also makes things a hell of a lot more interesting heading into the next game. Now all we need are bounties to be placed on certain players' heads. *Then* we'd have a series. :D

Coach, I want that hundred dollars.

You gotta earn it, killer.

My hearts in the right spot, coach.

Like the Packers/Bears NFL Towel controversy in the mid-80's?

Charles Martin was a professional American football player, who is best known for his days with the Green Bay Packers.

Martin is noted for causing a season-ending injury to Chicago Bears starting quarterback Jim McMahon on November 23, 1986.

During pre-game warm-ups, Martin displayed a white hand-towel with a list of Bears offensive players' numbers, which he wore during the game. He allegedly claimed that it was a hit-list. After a Jim McMahon interception, Martin grabbed him from behind and body-slammed him to the ground. Martin was ejected from the game and suspended for two games. This was the longest suspension for an on-field incident until Albert Haynesworth of the Tennessee Titans was suspended five games for stomping on the head of Dallas Cowboys center Andre Gurode in 2006. That hand towel was saved after the game, but it's still missing.

(wiki, and I actually saw that game with the McMahon incident)

Are you nuts? A bounty? We could all end up in the clinker for this. You can't put a bounty on a man's head.

So. Does Boston dominate Monday like in Games 3 and 4? I think so. 5-1 Boston with an empty netter at the end.

What time is it in Boston? 12 past Luongo.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

Screw Sedin. I'm sick of all the diving the Canuchs are doing. The Bruins need to start giving them a reason to dive. The only reason I'll be watching game 7 is to see the Bruins win the Cup on Canadian ice.

First and foremost, I hope we get a game 7.

Other than that, I guess I hope game 6 *isn't* very memorable. We saw how the Canucks responded to humiliation. Obviously they wouldn't take a game 7 lightly regardless of game 6, but I'd rather that they feel comfortable going back to Vancouver.

Henrik Sedin wins the war of words with Mike Milbury.

Milbury said his to a national audience on TV. Thelma said hers to a newspaper reporter that only a relative handful will see.

Milbury's also the hockey equivalent of Matt Millen, so jumping on one of his ideas is probably a good way to end up looking like an idiot.

Quite frankly, those two numbers might be closer than you think.

Game 4 of the Stanley Cup on Versus had 2.75 million viewers, second on cable only to the 2.9 watching the Country Music Awards on CMT.

Advantage: Milbury.

Edit

I've said from the beginning that his comparison was wrong because T&L are actually tough, whereas the Sedin sisters have the toughness of a wet paper towel. He should have gone with his original comparison (Laverne and Shirley) or the girls from Sex and the City. But since the Thelma and Louise thing has stuck (and it obviously bothers the sisters) I hope it keeps getting used.

So, in the end, its more misogynistic than purely anti-Canuck... oh, Milbury, you magnificent bastard.

May possibly have a good chance of going to Game 6 tomorrow night. Will keep you guys informed. :D

Balcony seats are now only $530! I'd prefer the $1400 seats in the Club though.

How do you figure that?

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

Note to a law enforcement professionals - UNH GH will be robbing a bank today :D

Sorry, let me correct myself. May possibly have a good chance of going to Game 6 tonight, with no money out of pocket except the cost to get down there.

Still hammering out details....
