2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

So, given that there was a show at the Garden last night and it's supposed to be in the mid 90s and humid here today, could there possibly be any ice issues tonight?

Players say the ice conditions "leave a lot to be desired."

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

As much as I hate to say it, I see a low scoring game with maybe some ‘puck luck’ involved. There is nothing worse than losign a dangle on crappy ice, or having a puck bounce over your stick when someone sauces it to you. That is the kind of crap that happens on ****ty ice. Ah well, both clubs gotta deal with it!

Exhausting, too. Nothing like making a 50 second shift seem like 2 minutes. That should really help the B's, I would think, taking their energy from the crowd.

It might cut down on the gong show stuff, too, not just because the game should be close, but nobody's going to have the extra energy and they're not going to risk being short benched.

Siberia is a very large park.

And with Putin on the verge of saying, "Eff it" and reopening the Gulags, there will be plenty of things to see and do! ;)

EDIT: As for the ice conditions, maybe Thomas can give the Bruins some pointers on how to play in a swamp. Namely, "Watch out for throwing motions". :p

I actually agree with that take. The only way it was a "blindside" hit would be because Horton wasn't looking in the right direction.
Uh, genius? The directione someone not looking is what knowned as - waiting pour eet - you gots it da blindside! Mon Dieu it amaze me dat some a you can type et not choke on you own spit at da same time.

Non officeur I not shoot heem, e juste standed in fronte of da bullet.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

According to peeps in Boston, pubs around the Garden are not letting fans in who are wearing Canucks gear.

In a related story, the folks over at Days of Y'Orr will be at the Orr statue handing out tissues to Canuck fans.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

You're pretty much the poster child for what we point at when Scarlet wonders why everyone hates Boston area teams, aren't you?

I hate to throw a fellow Bruins fan under the bus. But yes.

Are sober Canucks fans any worse that drunk Canucks fans?

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

Et you could use dis

48.1 Illegal Check to the Head – A lateral or blind side hit to an opponent where the head is targeted and/or the principal point of contact is not permitted.

What parte of dat you not unnerstand? It one simple sentence, eh? Rome camed from da blindside et hit da head. Horton not looking down et coming at Rome et getted planted in da cheste, dat would have beened ockey. When you hit a playeur from da side e not looking dat is de defnintion of blind side, mon dieu.

Mais tanks pour a aazzclown video from d'NHL where da firste "legal" hit was wif 2 fists to a guy face et da nexte was boarding et/ou charging. Mais oui, dey wasn't blind side.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

It's almost time for the Canucks to get another beating. They'd have been better off going back to Canada and licking their wounds among the hosers.

I hope your right but I don't see another 8-1 type of game tonight.

In your first post, you pretty much define "blindside" as anywhere a player isn't looking. That's not quite right. So the question turns on whether this was a lateral check or a north-south check.

It looks more like a north-south check than a from-the-side check to me. Obviously, it's not completely north-south, but they almost never are. For good reason.

eta: don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the current rule is well-written. Maybe the GMs made some progress on that front today....

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

Ryan Whitney said earlier this week that 90% of the league is rooting for Boston because of the way Vancouver plays. Also, there was an article in the Toronto Sun about how much Vancouver is hated. Thought both tidbits were interesting.

Anyway, glad the league got something right by suspending Rome for the rest of the series. What ****es me off is that Rome is a nothing player for Vancouver. Horton is obviously a top line player for the Bruins. The Canucks will gladly take that trade.

Throw in Torres, Lapierre (even the Habs got rid of this piece of garbage) and Burrows...wow. Quite the detestable team.

So umm I've been away for a while...does the rep system still exist? I can't seem to find where to locate the rep people have left me...

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

thanks for the link. i'm trying to locate it myself, but still can't find it. could you outline the "clicks" you take to get there?
Personally, I have it bookmarked. But, if you click in the drop-down box next to "Quick Navigation" right under the list of pages at the bottom of the page, you know, like two inches below the last post on a page, you want to choose "Settings," which is the first option in the drop-down. There's supposed to be a link at the top of the page, but it's not there for whatever reason.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

Collision?

Bit of an understatement, eh Mike?

Burrows is already up to his screwy antics, shooting at the Bruins net during warm ups.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

This is like wrestling on ice. Seems like putting the puck on net is a secondary thought so far.
