Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

If the series only goes 6, he will be suspended for 1 game next year.
I wasn't sure if it was like the Cooke suspension where it was dependent on the length of the round or if it was a straight up x games suspended.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

Any implications for Vancouver’s D? will they double shift their top guys more? They looked gassed against Boston’s cycle game.

Well, Vancouver is definitely hurting on D right now. They may have to call in the reserves as there are injuries and now a suspension hitting Vancouver. Also, putting Kessler on D for the Power Play may not be the best plan as he is injured as well.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

4 games sounds about right. It's unfortunate that the loss of Rome doesn't significantly affect Vancouver, nothing like losing Horton affects Boston. I wonder if it would still be a 4 gamer if Bieksa was the one delivering the hit.

This is going to be tough for Boston to overcome...but they have the ability to do it, in my opinion. They showed they can score without him last night.

Who moves up to the top line for Boston? It won't happen, but Seguin should play up there. He'll probably be a 3rd liner, and maybe Recchi moves up.

From the official Twitter account of the Vancouver Canucks:

Boston fans are known for their hostility and now #Canucks fans will be known for their bravery.

Interesting choice of words, especially considering that yesterday was the anniversary of D-Day. Anyone want to enlighten me as to what Canucks fans have done in the last 12 hours to qualify as "brave"?

Edit: Gee...the Canucks have now mysteriously deleted the comment

There have probably been some Canucks fans somewhere that continue to defend what Bertuzzi did to Steve Moore.

Oh, wait, you said "brave" not "depressingly retarded".

No idea. By and large the biggest group of internet whiners around in the sport of hockey.

Over on HF, you can make comments about gutless Marleau, heartless Thornton, Bertuzzi's fists, Montreal's diving team, the entire city of Detroit, Matt Cooke, Patrick Kane in a cab, etc.

But if you type out "7uongo", you'll get banned because the amount of screaming Vancouver 14 year olds have done since they've overrun the place because their team board routinely crashes.

How long is Horton out? Any prognosis there?

All we now is that he's out for the series. Beyond that, no one knows. He has gone home and texted a Happy Birthday message to Lucic, so his memory still works fine.

If he forgot Lucic's birthday in the time it took to close Facebook and write a text message, then there are problems beyond anything he received from that hit/concussion.

Burrows made his bed with that incident. Players are gonna be offering him fingers for the rest of his career.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs IV: Rome is Burning

I don't think Horton has any past history with concussions, so hopefully his recovery is speedy and relatively complication free. Hopefully we see him at the start of the year.
