Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

Can't believe I missed Thornton's locker room chat with the media this time around. Probably a good thing he's in San Jose instead of somewhere where there's a ton of hockey media. First round was him reading Playboy instead of their articles, this round is this gem when they asked what he thought about the people saying the Sharks were destined to collapse.

“I really honestly believe half you guys don’t know anything about our sport, so I don’t care about anything you (say).”

Sorta get the sense he's taken notes on who calls him a choker.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

Was talking with a friend today about the possible relocation of Atlanta to Winnipeg, and the restructuring of the divisions. Detroit moving to the East just doesn't make sense to me. It causes having to move a team like Philly to the Southeast, which makes no sense.

I was goofing around a bit, and came up with this, after about 5 minutes of work. This doesn't take into account rivalries or anything...just pure geographical sense.

Northeast

Stays the same...hard to mess with this too much.

Boston
Montreal
Ottawa
Buffalo
Toronto

Atlantic

Again, not a whole lot you can do with this.

New York Rangers
New York Islanders
New Jersey
Pittsburgh
Philadelphia

Southeast

First change here. Obviously Atlanta's out. Nashville makes the most sense.

Washington
Carolina
Nashville
Tampa Bay
Florida

Central

With Nashville out, Minnesota moves in.

Minnesota
Detroit
Chicago
St Louis
Columbus

Midwest

This, again, would be mainly for geographical purposes. Dallas doesn't belong in the Pacific.

Winnipeg
Colorado
Dallas
Edmonton
Calgary

Pacific

Only difference is Vancouver in and Dallas out.

Vancouver
San Jose
Anaheim
Los Angeles
Phoenix

I had another interesting thought, which was moving Dallas to the Southeast, and keeping Nashville in the West. Sounds kind of odd, but then you can keep the Central the same, and create a Midwest with Minnesota, Colorado, Winnipeg, Edmonton and Calgary.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

No way they'll move Vancouver out of the Northwest with three other Canadian teams in the division.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

I'd switch Chicago, St, Louis, & Columbus with Winnipeg, Edmonton, & Calgary.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs III: History Will Be Made

That was WLVI :p

Of course I'm too young... all I remember from WLVI is the "kids club" they advertised... i'm trying to remember if it was them or WFXT that broadcasted Dennis the Menace, Heathcliff, Inspector Gadget, etc.

And, now I'm trying to remember who used to broadcast Bullwinkle.

edit: Wow... and I just realized LVI is 56 in roman numerals... considering I knew those at the age of 8 you'd think maybe I'd make the connection.

I was so proud of myself for figuring that out when I was a kid. I thought it was entirely a coincidence that LVI was channel 56 and it was amazing that I had found this coincidence! I couldn't wait to share this discovery with people.

No ****, Sherlock.

How do you let Brett friggin' Clark go coast to coast on your entire squad? He's not exactly Pavel Datsyuk.
