2011 NHL Playoffs II: Welcome to Smashville

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs II: Welcome to Smashville

I'm not much for southern hockey markets, but great reaction by the Nashville crowd, cheering their team like it was a college game.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs II: Welcome to Smashville

My opinion on the Avery thing. Same sex couple should be allowed to marry. Just so they can be as miserable as us straight people. :D

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs II: Welcome to Smashville

Agreed. That was a solid crowd, and I was glad to see the Preds give them a salute.

I loved that their reaction at the end, despite losing, was just to cheer their guys. One of the most predictable and annoying things at the usual suspect sites is any time their team is eliminated on home ice there is anger, booing, and a general lack of class.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs II: Welcome to Smashville

I'll give Preds fans credit. They did realize their team had a great year. I still despise Southern hockey. LOL

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs II: Welcome to Smashville

So. I found out the dates I'll be away on this college thing...with no technology and no contact with the outside world...

May 22 - June 3

Which is awful, let me just say. BUT...I've been looking at potential schedules...and I might be okay, if a few things fall into place.

First thing that needs to happen is the Red Wings need to win tomorrow. That pushes Game 7 to Thursday, which pushes the Eastern Finals start to Saturday, May 14th, and presumably the Western finals to Sunday the 15th.

Ideal scenario is a quick Bruins win and the Western Finals going 7...schedules would presumably look like this:

ECF Game 1 Sat May 14
ECF Game 2 Mon May 16
ECF Game 3 Wed May 18
ECF Game 4 Fri May 20
ECF Game 5 Sun May 22
ECF Game 6 Tue May 24
ECF Game 7 Thu May 26

WCF Game 1 Sun May 15
WCF Game 2 Tue May 17
WCF Game 3 Thu May 19
WCF Game 4 Sat May 21
WCF Game 5 Mon May 23
WCF Game 6 Wed May 25
WCF Game 7 Fri May 27

So if Boston closes it out in 5, I could see all of that series. But I'm not as worried about that. One of the two series NEEDS to go 7 though. That would make the Cup Finals schedule something like this:

SCF Game 1 Sun May 29
SCF Game 2 Tue May 31
SCF Game 3 Thu Jun 2

And then I'm home the 3rd...hopefully avoiding technology alltogether, cramming to watch any ECF and Cup Finals games I missed.

GO DETROIT!

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs II: Welcome to Smashville

Clowe didn't make the trip to Detroit.

Game 7 will be Thursday night.

Bah, that means the Sharks will win by 4, Patty will have a hat trick, and we'll have to listen to Roenick take all the credit for 'inspiring' him.

Besides, Kyle Wellwood is our best +/- player. You can't explain that.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs II: Welcome to Smashville

Detroit's going to have to sack up in the first and second periods for a change, because I don't think Howard is going to have two games like that in a row.

That'd be a nice change of events, since I suddenly have tickets to tonights game.

GO DETROIT!

I just got a text from the Bruins saying no matter what Game 1 is Saturday May 14th.

Bruins fans.... From Chad Finn's blog...

Jack Edwards has agreed to a multi-year contract extension with NESN. Take that, royalty!

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs II: Welcome to Smashville

SO tempted to buy Game 3 tickets down in Tampa. $40 for PLAYOFF seats? Unreal. I got the PreSale code for tomorrow morning, so I could almost for sure grab the seats.

And since I work for an airline...I could fly down there and back for free!

The only thing holding me back is that I have to get stuff out of my dorm room during that time. And I leave very little room for error coming back, I HAVE to be back on campus Sunday to leave on this trip.
