Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs II: Welcome to Smashville

Somewhere, NBC executives are jumping for joy after Ovie ties it at 2 with over a minute to play.

They survived back to back years of Edmonton/Carolina and Ottawa/Anaheim and gotten "dream" matchups three years running since.

They can suck it.

Tampa will probably lose 3 & 4 at home. It's how they've rolled so far.

The ultimate NBC exec head asplode has to be Nashville vs. Tampa for the Cup. :D

So when did Dwayne Roloson decide to come back to 2005/2006 form? He kept tampa in that game. Washington outplayed tampa convincingly in parts of that game, but it was always close. What a sick snipe to end it. Perfect top cheese. Tampa shouldn’t be too thrilled going back 2-0, having been outplayed for much of the second match. They looked awful in many stretches.

Home teams - worst overall playoff effort on their behalf, ever? UNH…err San Jose seemed to do okay this weekend though!

If you listen to Boucher's interviews at all, all he talks about is how good the Caps are, etc. He keeps all the attention on Washington, and he keeps it away from his team. So far in this series, it has worked.

The last game was so close, its hard to say if the added attention is getting to them. Like Boston in their first few losses, I do not believe Washington’s second game loss was a dire one. Tampa finished when they had too, and took advantages of a few breaks (green being in the wrong place, and a bad line change). I suspect that something on tampa will crack, and Washington will be right back in this series after game 3.

I tend to agree with you, I believe the Caps will take game 3. I truly believe if Tampa does indeed win this series, it will be thanks to Roloson. He gives them a dynamic that was inconsistent in the regular season.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs II: Welcome to Smashville

Roloson has always been pretty solid, he's just spent the majority of the last 5-6 years playing for incompetent teams that can't really make the playoffs without a lot of help and luck. Anyone who can post a cumulative SV% above .900 when starting for the current version of the Islanders deserves some respect.

At his age, this is likely his last chance at the Cup unless TB doesn't have many other options this summer, so you figure he's going to play the best that he can. Worst case scenario, he earns himself another year if he wants it.

Roloson has been huge for Tampa but they are also getting contributions from their top guys and role players. Also, their PK has been amazing. All of these factors are keys to going far in the playoffs and they have some good chemistry working here. If they keep it up they could go all the way.

This would have been an awesome night for Chicago to still be in the playoffs.

Boston has to take the crowd out of this early...or not allow Philly to do much in the first.

And...so much for that.
