2011 NHL Playoffs II: Welcome to Smashville

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs II: Welcome to Smashville

It's the same dilemma here with me. I'm a ovechkin guy, as are a few of my friends, and the other half are crosby lovers. I want Ovi to get a cup, to shut all the crosby guys up.:p

My predictions: Wings and Vancouver in the West, and Philly and Washington in the East. All series in 6 games, Vancouver in 5. If a series goes to 7, I think it'll be Boston/Philly.

Who I want to win: Caps, Flyers, (I hate everything to do with boston, sorry all.) Predators and Wings (soley for my pool.)

In the sharks/wings and philly/boston series, I hate both teams, and hope both must forfeit the series and the other two can play in the finals;)

Since you are a Sioux fan, I guess I understand why you like the Philly goon squad, how come you're not a 'Nucks fan too?:p

He's an MSUM fan. He just likes to be associated with the awesomeness that is being a Sioux fan. :p

Plus how do you explain why I want both of them to get swept out of the playoffs? ;)

I like Briere, but that's about it:p Richards and Carter are good players too, but truly I dislike the Flyers, and hate Boston, so it, like the SJ/Det series, is a lose lose.

And **** the cansucks!;)

MNS, you know I've always liked the Sioux, the mavs are the hometown team, I've wanted to go to UND since age 10:p

How can anyone hope to explain the internal cotradictions that are an MNS?

Im sure this was covered in the 'Peg thread, but the Mayor of Winnipeg says he thinks the 'Yotes will stay, but he believes the Thrashers will end up in Winnipeg for next season.

I'll go with the Wings, Preds, Bruins, and . . . a great series between my current home team and my future one.

He's basically just taking shots into the dark now. Although, there has always been an underlying "what if it's not PHX but really ATL" that no one seemed to want to re-hash (since PHX seemed two feet into the moving van already).

Here's an interesting one for y'all: IF ATL goes to WPG, Vancouver needs a new AHL affiliate. Word is that Vancouver is eying the Chicago Wolves as their AHL affiliate IF the Moose become affiliated with the WPG NHL team.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs II: Welcome to Smashville

Ference has a phone meeting with the NHL today over his "hit" on Halpern. Most likely will sit Game 1.

I'm gonna say no suspension.

As for Jack Edwards, if he ever prepares for a speech like that again...NESN should just tell him the camera is rolling.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs II: Welcome to Smashville

ATL to the 'Peg, and Illitch plays his cards to get Detroit moved to the East. ;)

OK, not gonna happen for obvious reasons. Pipe dreaming is fun though.

I'd love to be in the Board of Governor's room when it comes up, though. Like I said in the Winnipeg thread.

"We give Atlanta to the West, which is run by bozos and has an 0-4 playoff record in one trip, and get Detroit back? No sir FU. We'll take 0-4 lifetime Columbus for 'parity purposes'. Come talk to us when you hire Isiah Thomas to run your front office."

Put Winnipeg in the Northwest with Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver. Move Nashville to the East, Southeast division and move Minnesota to the Central in the West.

Unless you know, Detroit conspires with the rest of the league to create an Anti division. Get your tinfoil hats out College Hockey fans!

Bingo. The number of Wings fans who believe that Illitch has some sort of "in" with the league office regarding any jockeying of the conferences is pretty funny though. As if Bettman would shake hands on any "gentleman's agreement" with Detroit. :p

EDIT: No, the Wings would form an Original Six division but leave Toronto out. Then the Blues, Flyers, Penguins, Kings, and Sharks (in Oakland's absence) would form the Anti-Original Six.

We should also form an NHL version of the BTHC. Then we should promote the Providence Bruins to the NHL, rename them {PROVICED and kick them out of Hockey Rast.

I vote that Edmonton, Ottawa, Florida, Atlanta, and the Islanders form the AHA division, where teams are limited to a maximum of three players making more than $4 million a year.

:D
Well played, good sir!

I'd like to see Toronto (and drag Buffalo with?) to the West. Somehow. But if ATL goes to Winnipeg, that really torpedo's any scenario I can think of to make that work. Unless you realign into two divisions within each conference. Even then it gets messy.

You have eight teams that work perfectly in the Mountain/Pacific time zones as their own. From there... the Central/Eastern time zones would be better split into three different divisions.

The Islanders really need to move to Kansas City to help fix the NHL's geographic problem. :D
