Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs: Can the goalies be stopped?

I love watching playoff hockey at the sports department for the newspaper I'm working at. My copy editor is a true hockey fan like I am and we have the CBC feed on. Nothing better than this.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs: Can the goalies be stopped?

So, no team has taken 7 games to win a first round series (16 team playoff format) and gone on to win the Stanley Cup. So, thanks for coming out Vancouver, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Buffalo. Tampa Bay and Los Angeles will be playing to eliminate both themselves and the Pens and Sharks tomorrow.

So does this mean Detroit's going to win it again?

Go Nashville.

Re: 2011 NHL Playoffs: Can the goalies be stopped?

Sooo...how do the Bruins have Game 6 on Tuesday and CHI-VAN and PHI-BUF are on Game 7? Is the BOS-MON series the last one? What about PIT-BOLTs?

Hope Schneider is OK. He really looked like he was in pain. It would be just my luck for the Canucks to blow this series right before I get there.

Edit: Hasn't been done in the new expansion era. Edmonton did it in 1990. So, a stupid stat that's been floating around San Jose boards this week. Thanks, arses.

Kudos for correcting yourself, though.

Well, I don't know if the Hawks can win four straight, especially with #4 coming on the road in Vancouver, but Tuesday night should be great!

Boston/Montreal started a day later than Chicago/Vancouver and Philadelphia/Buffalo. Also, Boston/Montreal is getting an extra day off between Game 5 and Game 6, at the expense of having no day off between Game 6 and a potential Game 7. Buffalo/Philadelphia and Chicago/Vancouver Game 7's are on Tuesday, and potential Game 7's for Boston/Montreal & Tampa Bay/Pittsburgh & Los Angeles/San Jose are all on Wednesday.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, the regular time for Game 6 in Montreal would be on Easter Monday, which is a holiday in Canada.

I've perused the HF boards before....Canucks fans are insane. I dare say worse than Sioux fans.
