Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

In spite of Jurco's stickhandling talent, I've read stuff that indicates he is streaky and doesn't always work hard. Sounds Franzen-esque, in that regard. We'll see.

I like the Sproul pick. Never heard of Ouellet - since when does Holland draft Frenchies?

Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

Even so, his play would suggest otherwise. Why would any team sign him for five years?

Hell if I know. It's Calgary. If I were Iginla or Kipprusoff, I would have demanded a trade years ago. It's like their goal is to finish 7-10th in the conference every year.

He had more points than anyone on the Bruins this season. He's had one bad season and that was with Tampa's craptacular team of 09-10. I'm not sure how his play suggests otherwise???

The only dumb part about the contract is it's length. Any NHL contract over 3 years is a giant risk though, IMO.

I think that it depends on how old the player is, what type of injury history they have, and what the cap hit of the contract is; I'd go as long as 5 years. With only a 3.5 cap hit, I don't think that this is a completely terrible signing term-wise.

Truth be told I didn't follow him closely enough this year, but come on, he had his best season since 2006-2007--and by a wide margin. If the Bruins were to give Tanguay the same deal Calgary did, I would not like it. Couldn't care less that he had more points than any Bruin this year.

Looks like Winnipeg will spend next year in the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference with full realignment to take place after next year. Two divisions in each conference.

Don't know if this was posted, but here's proof that the Whalers need to return.

Megan Fox is a Whalers Fan

in realistic terms though... I have to wonder... HCC/XL is nearing the end of its life... Gampel pavilion is 20 years old (I think?) I believe its just going to be a matter of time before the state of ct legitimately looks at building a new 12,000+ person facility... Foxwoods/Mohegan is in Eastern CT so there's still the whole concert venue thing... UConn is in not-so-eastern CT and I'm sure they'll still want to be able to have access to the basketball program for the rest of the state... the only question is will be in the time frame where they think they can get the ducks in a row for an NHL return?

Wings reportedly close to re-signing Jonathan "Turnover" Ericsson.

Between HF and here, are unbalanced divisions *that* big of a *ing deal? That's all I keep reading.

Depends on how they determine the playoff teams, if they just take the top 4 from each division, then it does make a difference.

No good way to break 30 teams into 4 divisions, then select 16 teams from those divisions.

But then to rebalance, we have to either contract 2 Eastern teams or add 2 Western teams. That thought makes me ill.

Re: 2011 NHL Off-Season: The Puck Boat edition

It's a dumb move by the NHL. What is wrong with the current structure? All you have to do is swap winnipeg with either detroit, nashville or columbus. Look at the possible divisions under the new four division structure and you'll see that the current six division format looks a lot better.
