2011 Minnesota Twins: Yoshi, Pavario, and Big Jim's Quest for 600

Re: 2011 Minnesota Twins: Yoshi, Pavario, and Big Jim's Quest for 600

Any word yet if 4-3 is ready to come back soon?

He won't be back soon because the Twins refuse to use him as a DH and won't play him until he is ready to catch because, to quote Billy Smith, "Our team has enough good DHs." That has to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard a GM say.

We also have a couple guys who can't play in the field OR hit (Casilla & Tolbert).

We have a race!! Will Butura get to below .100 before Morneau gets below .200? The both really seem to want it....

He hit one ball really hard last night but unfortunately right at the center fielder so there is a glimmer of hope.....

Kubel is a man among boys right now. So far in this game he's 2-3 with 4 RBI. Lets trade him and re-stock the farm.

Re: 2011 Minnesota Twins: Yoshi, Pavario, and Big Jim's Quest for 600

Capps gives up the go ahead run in the top of the ninth on a 10th pitch of an at bat Triple. I think that at bat more than any other exemplifies the Twins season. Sac. Bunt scores the 2nd run giving Detroit a 2 run lead.

Nice closer.

This bullpen is terrible.
Maybe we should trade a few of our good DH's for some competent pitchers.
I also think at some point, Gardy's job needs to be thought of as in jeopardy.

You can't be serious about Gardy. He's been such a great manager for us, we've had a slough of injuries this year, and there's a lot of season left.

Don't get me wrong, I'm beyond ****ing frustrated with this crap. But Gardy? Really?

He's getting into tDon territory. Why the injuries to key players year after year? Why the slow starts year after year (seemingly)? We used to be about playing defense and breaking hearts (c) Torii, IIRC. What happened to our fail-safe bullpen? What happened to our 5 #3 starters that would just get us to our awesome bullpen?

Given that he just won MOY, there is the leeway. If he wasn't in the running last year? Rumors would be abound. But he is on watch right now, pending this season. I'd say he has about a 2-3 year window to turn it around, starting now (since the general rule is that a team is untouchable for 5 years after winning the title).

I like Gardy, too. But hey, he's not untouchable.

Re: 2011 Minnesota Twins: Yoshi, Pavario, and Big Jim's Quest for 600

Gardy? Really? Overreact much?

I relate it to the Vikings under Denny Green. Win a division title/good in regular season. After that? Nada. Somewhere down the line, you have to question it. Is it just the players? Is it the coach? I dunno. IMO, Gardy is fastly creeping into "questionable status." I don't like it, but that's the way it is.

And it's not like they are showing signs of improving. They are DEAD LAST in the league. Childress got fired for less. ;)

Half the roster is callups right now. The Vikings weren't playing half the practice squad...

Re: 2011 Minnesota Twins: Yoshi, Pavario, and Big Jim's Quest for 600

Gardy's job is NOT in jeopardy, nor should it be. I will be furious if Gardy gets canned for one bad season after what he's done for this team. You say its like Lucia? Lucia has been bad for 3 seasons, Gardy's been there for about 1/4 of 1 season. Settle down, Gardy's not going anywhere.

Re: 2011 Minnesota Twins: Yoshi, Pavario, and Big Jim's Quest for 600

You could argue a change of manager to shake up the organization I guess. Gardy has a pretty long tenure and was really just an extension of TK. But I don't think we are organizationally looking to change the way we do things.

We have certainly been consistent in his tenure. Although we have never really been exceptional.
