Re: 2011 Minnesota Offseason Thread

T-minus 11 days till the hockey world is set back in allignment. I am very pumped about the prospects for the Gophers season along with a revamped Minnesota Wild team with some real hopes of scoring goals again and both teams making long runs deep into the post season.

FOX Sports North and the University of Minnesota announced today the 2011-12 television schedule for the 91st season of Golden Gopher men's hockey. The season begins Friday, Oct. 7 at 6:30 p.m. when the Gophers face Sacred Heart in the home opener from Mariucci Arena. The complete schedule is in high definition.

The network will also bring numerous interactive online elements to this season's viewing experience. Gopher hockey fans will be able to view and share instant video highlights from games via FOXSportsNorth.com, Facebook and Twitter. Select games will also feature "Director's Cut," a second-screen experience where the viewer is in control of the broadcast. With a live view of multiple camera angles, fans have the choice of watching any one of four cameras from the TV truck all while listening to the producer and director during the show.

The 28-game schedule includes 15 telecasts at Mariucci and 13 road contests. Gophers Live presented by Century Link on FOX Sports North will air before and after every game telecast and as part of the network's family of comprehensive and personalized pre and postgame shows.

The 2010-11 television schedule consists of a number of border battles including: three games against Wisconsin on Nov. 11, Mar. 2 and Mar. 3; three contests against the University of North Dakota on Nov. 4, Jan. 13 and Jan. 14; and multiple match-ups against Minnesota schools including two against St. Cloud State and two each against Bemidji State, Minnesota State and Duluth.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers telecasts will feature play-by-play announcer Anthony LaPanta and analyst Kevin Gorg. Former player and coach Doug Woog will provide analysis as part of Gophers Live presented by Century Link pre and postgame shows along with hosts Marney Gellner, Robby Incmikoski and Mike Pomeranz.

Re: 2011 Minnesota Offseason Thread

Freshmen to watch according to Nick Bjugstad:

KG: Which freshmen have caught your eye as possible superstars down the road?

BJUGSTAD: Sam Warning might be a player that Minnesota fans have never heard of, but watch out, this guy is really good. He is small and extremely quick; he plays a lot like Jacob Cepis did for us last year. The other first-year player is more of an obvious choice, but Kyle Rau from Eden Prairie has really been impressive so far. I love his puck skills, and I think he will make the transition to the college game look easier than it should.

Re: 2011 Minnesota Offseason Thread

It's great having the broadcasts in HD and having 32 of 37 games be televised, it's good to be the Gophers. :)

Was surprised to see none of the Classic being televised, they usually show a game or both every year.

Re: 2011 Minnesota Offseason Thread

The Minnesota Wild, in conjunction with FOX Sports North and Minnesota Hockey, announced today a cooperative effort to celebrate the Sixth Annual Hockey Day Minnesota with a full day of hockey programming, including five telecasts of games taking place at three separate locations. The event is presented by Wells Fargo and is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, January 21, 2012.

Hockey Day Minnesota 2012 on FOX Sports North will include a full day of local hockey-related programming designed as a celebration of the game from peewees to pros. Lake Minnetonka and the city of Excelsior will serve as the background for the three outdoor high school games featured in the Hockey Day Minnesota 2012 line up.

Outdoor Games on Lake Minnetonka in Excelsior:

White Bear Lake vs. Grand Rapids (Boys)
Minnetonka vs. Duluth East (Boys)
Minnetonka vs. Hopkins (Girls)

Hockey Day Minnesota coverage will include a Minnesota Wild game from Xcel Energy Center, as well as the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers against Colorado College from Mariucci Arena. A complete list of games and programming schedule will be released at a later date.

Indeed JDUBBS,sounds like a good day of Hockey in Minnesota once again...

That Duluth East vs Minnetonka game is going to be a great one. We all saw how tough East played Eden Prairie in the Class AA State Championship. Well, they return a vast majority of that team this year. And not only does Minnetonka return most of their team (including new Gopher recruit Vinni Lettieri), but their JV team was undefeated last year.
