They have recruited other ex-WCHA commits from the USHL with academic question marks. The last one turned out to be very, very good.

I'm not saying they didn't recruit him....but he, unlike the rest of the freshman, does not appear on the directory of students. Maybe he was a really really really late addition and they haven't updated the admissions list, but the rest of the freshman are.

I'm confident you'll see him on the ice at Hamline.

What's more interesting is that, considering all the shady financial packages that Adrian, Oswego and St. Norbert are supposedly offering, he didn't end up at one of those three.

Re: 2011 Division III Commitments

I am thinking the team that drafted Troy Hesketh (Edmonton) had a small part in this decision since his Major Junior rights are held by the WHL's Edmonton Oil King's. I read a few articals on this kid and his USHL coaches have deemed him a primadonna and uncoachable because he dosn't want to play more physical which is why he has struggled this year. With that said the WHL is a rough and tumble league that will basiclly force him to add the physical play to his game.

Um, if he was drafted in 2009 he is very likely too old to play in the WHL regardless of how tough he is.

edit: he turned 20 this summer so I suppose he could play one season up there if he chose to, but I'll take Webb's word for it that we see him in the MIAC this season...

I'd say it looks like Scott Steffen has put together a very interesting recruiting class for his first season.

What "shady" financial packages are you referring to? And what would define them as being "shady"?

Beats me. You'll have to ask the people who make such claims in a meager attempt to rationalize why one of the listed teams kicks them up and down the ice on a routine basis.

Who ever said Oswegos FA was "shady"? You can give out great packages and still be legal. I dont know specifics on the other two, but I know a possible transfer that was heading to one said their package was very good.

He's referring to some of the posters who come on and accuse programs of cheating on Aid.

Answer: Shady = those recruiting tools/devices/methods that result in my team getting beaten by your team.

It has nothing to do with winning or losing some schools put out larger packages....aid is just one of the reasons a school CAN win....it has nothing to do with being shady.....its fact. Not accepting the fact that it happens is just ignorant....

Re: Definition of Shady

was that a typo or did Gustavus Adolphus get a 6'8" netminder??? ..... also can anyone confirm that Oz did indeed get RJay Berra and what happened to Popek, where did he land???

A 6-8 goaltender. That's absurd. Ben Bishop played at Maine a few years ago, and I think he was 6-6 or 6-7.
