2011 Atlantic Hurricane Season

Re: 2011 Atlantic Hurricane Season

Something is brewing off the east coast of Florida. It could muck up the shuttle landing.

Re: 2011 Atlantic Hurricane Season

I was supposed to be in the Dominican Republic this week to dial in some engines. I was disappointed that the work was taken by another group, since the work was going to be at 3 all-inclusive resorts, but at this point it looks like it would have been a pretty miserable trip. :p

Re: 2011 Atlantic Hurricane Season

You guys are slaking-

TS (so far) Irene is already hitting US territories http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/graphics_at4.shtml?5-daynl#contents

Should go right over Puerto Rico tonight. My in-laws are a little nervous, but I think they will be ok- if the eye goes across the center, it wil be worse than a normal storm, but the mountains will peel off a lot of the winds.

Will be a long night in the US Virgin Islands, Viequez, Culebra, and Puerto Rico.

Now category 1 Hurricane Irene. Upped strength while going over Puerto Rico.

It also turned a little north, and it appears that the eye will miss Hispanola, which might have lowered its strength.

Harvey disappeared over Mexico. Any reports of a giant rabbit South of the Border will be appreciated.

Computer models have it approaching the US, from Florida to the Outter Banks and as category 3 storm.

The odds of it hitting Florida aren't that good at this point, especially south Florida. The Carolinas seem like the best bet for now. Some models try to have it clip the Outer Banks then head up into New England.
