Although it's nigh to impossible for us UND fans to acknowledge, Minnesota fans deserve that little bit of swagger they have again. Coming from a storied program and having to deal with three years of frustration and disappointment could not have been fun (downright miserable, we hope). You paid your dues and now deserve to stick your chests out a little. And that's OK with most UND fans, I think. It's the way things should be in this little universe.

OK. I've said what my gopher hate counselor told me I had to say. Hopefully the twitch will go away.

It was worn circa 1999-2000 and/or 2000-01 maybe one of you can tell me for sure what seasons he was alternate captain. The jersey was produced by Nike in size 58. The jersey has good wear, a repair on the sleeve and has the original name still on the back. (This is becoming very rare for college jerseys.).

How bad did our PWR take a hit?

I kept laughing every time NBC Sports would bring up our "#2 ranking", maybe they should talk PWR and not USA today polls poles pohls.

If we split it doesn't hurt that bad. If we get swept we lose a spot.

I should also preface this discussion with the note: All of my pairwise calculations are based on the teams at the end of the regular season with the higher RPI team beating the lower RPI team. It's not a perfect way to do things and perhaps it's a bit farsighted. But I'd rather have a farsighted PWR calculation than a shortsighted one that also doesn't include "future common opponents" like USCHO and Sioux Sports publish.

I try to keep my spreadsheet updated and I'll be answering questions and running scenarios on the GPL "PWR Banter" thread between now and when the field is released.

Sorry boys, but more often than not you get what you deserve.

I'm nervous about these guys in the playoffs. You can't just periodically drop a game.

Lets get real here. This Gopher club isn't going to be winning any national championships or for that matter anybody in the WCHA. The play from everybody in this conference is way too inconsistent. It would be great to win a conference championship but this club is not deserving with their play as of late. Unless things change we are looking at a one and done NCAA bid.

BAD beat tonight. Gophs have to learn from it and take 4 or 5 out of 6 down the final stretch to have any shot at a title and get into the NCAAs.

They could have been good enough. They have not improved as the season has gone on. That's unfortunate cause I thought they finally would this season instead of following their past 4 year trends.

Plenty of season yet and stranger things have happened, we are still in 1st place in the WCHA and have 4 of our last 6 games at home.

Sure. But a .500 record the rest of the way, cause that's what they've been playing since late November isn't going to get it done.

I agree. They are just not playing great hockey like we all know they can do on a nightly basis.

Come on, at least show some sense of perspective. UMD looked like **** last year at the F5, and then proceeded to rattle off four straight and win the title. Consistency or lack thereof entering the tournament is not necessarily a reliable indicator of what a team will do in the NCAA's. If you had asked any WCHA fan who they'd put money on to win a title last season, the vast majority of it would probably have been bet on UND.

Four of six at home - I'd say it's still right there waiting for them to grab it, particularly with a 1pt lead over Duluth and 2pt lead over DU. As for the NCAA, they get to play in St. Paul should they make it - and I'll take my chances there against anyone. There are no juggernauts this season. Every team has shown weakness. There is no '93 Maine squad waiting to decimate everyone in the NCAA's; there's just a lot of pretty good to okay teams in the field, all of whom can fall flat and get bounced, regardless of seeding.
