Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs IV: "The game puck just got Prongered"
Love it.
Love it.
Great move. We get a quality NHL player for the 15th pick basically. Wideman leaving doesn't phase me much. The fans have been calling for his head for months. I liked him, but resigning Sidenberg and hopefully Boychuck will ease that pain a bit.
But,but but... who will talk radio hosts blame for every problem the Bruins have if Wideman is gone?!?!?
Agreed but they are going to need someone else on the blueline. I don't have a lot of faith in Hunwick or Ferrence. A dream situation would have the Bruins somehow getting the 3rd overall from CBJ and getting Cam Fowler but the price would just be way too high.
Well, for the next year or two, it's Wideman's "lingering presence". After that, the revisionist history comes in, and it's the lack of Wideman's offensive spark.
Roughly one year ago, Bruins fans were excited to trade away a lazy forward who floats and doesn't put in a whole heck of a lot of effort if things aren't going their way but still puts up pretty good numbers, now y'all are super excited to obtain that same type of player?
I guess when you realize needing goals is quite important to win, you'll be happy to get a player that can, occasionally, score.
the bruins also got rid of kessel because he wanted too much money and then gave that same amount to lucic. they also signed thomas to an astronomical deal and threw in a no trade clause for the hell of it.
Many sources say the Thomas situation is heating up, and a deal isn't far off. I liked Kessel overall, I was disappointed to see him leave, but I understand why they dealt him.

When did Kevin McHale become the GM of the Panthers?

I just can not fathom people really thinking that Tim Thomas has value. He's declining, old, coming off surgery, and has one of the worst contracts in hockey. Oh, and there are about 15 goalies looking for maybe 3-5 open jobs this fall.
Why would Washington want Thomas?? They have Valarmov and Nuevirth cheap, why trade for Thomas and muck it up?
