Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs IV: "The game puck just got Prongered"

Because Washington is probably one of a few teams Thomas would waive his NTC for. And the talks about Thomas to the Sharks are just as ridiculous. We're up against the cap already, have about 45 goalies that are almost ready for the NHL and we're going to take on a long term contract that's asiningly stupid? Especially when, like you said, there's plenty of goalies that we can pick up for cheap and just rotate goalies hoping one finds a groove during the season.

I think Thomas would waive his NTC to any team he would be a starter for, or be in a better position to be a starter than he is in Boston.

I hear Montreal needs a goalie :D

Washington has Varlamov, Neuvirth and Holtby. Varlamov looks flashy but can't win when it counts. Neuvirth has 2 Calder Cups in 2 tries and Holtby may be better than both of them.

Thomas has too much of a Cap hit for the Caps who have Ovechkin and Backstrom under huge K's with Green coming up for his payday and Semin getting $$ to float. Unaffordable for GMGM.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs IV: "The game puck just got Prongered"

The Atlanta Thrashers are interviewing Rockford's head coach for the vacancy in ATL.

That sound you hear? The bloggers in Chicago warming up their laptops to discuss the possibility of the Wolves becoming the Blackhawks affiliate... There are rumors that the Rockford deal was struck only because Dollar Bill refused to negotiate with the Wolves (and vice-versa). Coupled with the talk of an ECHL affiliate moving into the Sears Center for the 2011-12 season...

I think I'm going to be sick.

You Wolves fans should've rumbled with Blackhawks fans two years ago. You know, back when you could've outnumbered them.

Yeah I don't see Warshington trading for an old, overpaid goalie just coming off hip surgery.

What would the Bruins be looking at in return for Thomas. I cant see this being anything more than a salary dump. Hell, Id take a bag of pucks for Thomas at this point.

I'd be happy with a 5th round in the 2063 entry draft.

I'd be happy with a 5th round from the 1863 entry draft.

But no Pat Burns. :(

Except for Dennis and Callahan where it will be Obama's fault and Planet Mikey where this is somehow related to Manny's inability to run out grounders.
People still listen to that station? (though, Felger and Maz were praising the hockey knowledge of Mike Milbury today...I think I'm switching back to the iPod for the drive home from now on)

Don't you have the 2nd overall from Toronto?
Are you suggesting they use that on a defenseman, not either Hall or Seguin?

At least they seem rational about things...

Pat Quinn out as Oilers head coach:

The plan was always for Pat Quinn to hand the torch to Tom Renney.

However, after going through the worst season in franchise history, the Edmonton Oilers decided to expedite the process.

On Tuesday, the Oilers announced Quinn would be taking a senior management role with the team, while Renney would take over as head coach.

Renney officially becomes the Oilers 10th coach in franchise history and third head in the past three years.

It'll be weird not having him around, and it was my first Sharks jersey purchase back in '01-02. It'll be really weird watching a Sharks team with no Marleau or Nabokov.

The standing ovation he got at the end of the Detroit series wasn't a bad almost-last moment in teal to go out on.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs IV: "The game puck just got Prongered"

When did Kevin McHale become the GM of the Panthers?

WINNER! The only ? in the deal was Greg Campbell. I don't know much about him. Is he just a checking center?

I just can not fathom people really thinking that Tim Thomas has value. He's declining, old, coming off surgery, and has one of the worst contracts in hockey. Oh, and there are about 15 goalies looking for maybe 3-5 open jobs this fall.

Why would Washington want Thomas?? They have Valarmov and Nuevirth cheap, why trade for Thomas and muck it up?
They could trade him to the Hawks for Cristobal Huet. :D

I think Thomas would waive his NTC to any team he would be a starter for, or be in a better position to be a starter than he is in Boston.

Their man is Carey Price. Their plan is missing the playoffs.

Sad that the HHOF voters passed over Pat Burns. :(

I don't agree with Lindros going into the Hall, but I think Gilmour and Nieuwendyk should be there along with Dino.
Lindros doesn't deserve the hall. Though his mommy and daddy think otherwise.

Opening the door for... ah, I won't say it. :p

The return of Vesa Toskala? :D
