2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs III: "Don't Toews Me, Bro!"

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs III: "Don't Toews Me, Bro!"

Radical idea: If Gill and Markov can play: Markov plays on the 4th line and on power plays, Gill games MAB's spot, Pouliot and MAB both sit down.

I'd be all for it.

I'm just shocked that PK Subban, playing in his 10th NHL game, led both teams in ice time with 29+ minutes.

I'd say the Bruins are doing their usual tank job

I wish I could say I'm surprised by this but I'm not. I 100% believe that the series is over and that the Bruins next victory will come in October. This is just a giant disaster.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs III: "Don't Toews Me, Bro!"

Blowing a 3-zip series lead would not be anybody's "usual" anything. The B's were playing so well less than a week ago, I don't see the need for panic. The Flyers are a decent team and nobody expected them to go gentle into that good night.

The Winnipegglians are certainly stoked.

This would be an unprecedented tank job for this franchise: the 75' Penguins, 42' Red Wings and 04' Yankees can take them out to dinner and commiserate.

Good to hear the Boucher injury isn't too severe. I wish to hell I had an confidence in the B's offense at all right now. please don't tell me after all this that Krejci was the offensive lynchpin!

If Winnipeg does come back, might I suggest this song for whenever they score.

I'd really like to see the Habs make it one more round. This way, the Wolves don't have to face off against Subban when he's reassigned to Hamilton.

... if they beat Texas tonight. :o

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs III: "Don't Toews Me, Bro!"

The Bruins should have all been keel-hauled after last night's performance (or lack thereof). It is one thing to lose to a hungrier team but to lose on the 40th anniversary of "THE goal" is nothing less than sacreligious. I hope the coaching staff skates the crap out of them today - they deserve it. At least the would have an excuse for a lackluster performance in game #6.

I couldn't bear to watch the third, so I tuned into the Habs/Pens and thoroughly enjoyed some real action although I did have to mute the "Ole, ole, ole!

Come on, boys, show some cahonees.

They were playing great, leading Boston fans to say, "Where'd this team come from?"

The most common comment about last night's game? "It looked like the regular season."

That's what was so disheartening about that game. This wasn't just one terrible game in the post-season, it was this year's Bruins reverting back to form. Hopefully they can find whatever spark they had earlier in the playoffs; they have two games to prove they haven't actually regressed again.

I think they'll be ok. Gotta get Satan going again
With Boucher going out, it might help the Bruins to find that one extra goal. But they have to find a way to stop Gagne.

Bruins win 3-1 with an empty netter at the end of the game.

As much as the fans cherish that moment I think we need to be realistic and realize that it doesn't mean too to the players. They didn't grow up Bruins fans and most of them (if not all) were probably fans of other NHL teams. Its the equivalent of one of us being drafted by the Islanders and being told we have to play hard because Bobby Nystrom scored a Cup winning goal.

Leighton would've been the Flyers starter had he not gone out with an injury before. Boucher was in the doghouse all year long for Philly.

I'd be nervous, but I wouldn't necessarily worry.

Pat Kane was a Sabres fan, and scored his first shootout goal against his Idol, Hasek. Bobby Butler of UNH was a pretty die hard bruins fan and probably still is even though he threw on a senators jersey. Pro's play hard for different reasons than fans think they should ; this is what separates the spectators from the players.

Not sure what is wrong with Boston. Philly has found their stride in an otherwise even series. Despite being 3-0, the series was close. They played undisciplined, played a lot of the game on the PK and still did well. Gagne is clearly a factor, and so was Krecji - its back to the buffalo mindset playing as the underdog. I am not making predictions, but this becomes a game of Russian Roulette as soon as they let this thing go to 7.

I was talking with my father today and remembered how poorly they looked against Buffalo in Game 5, Buffalo beat them 4-1. That was worrisome too, but they came out GREAT in Game 6 and dominated that whole game.

I think the first 10 minutes of Game 6 will be KEY for the Bruins.

Good point. The ceremony is for the crowd. It's their responsibility to translate that energy, if it exists, to the team on the ice. The Garden crowd failed at that last night. The Bell Centre crowd, on the other hand, raised their team to a higher level emotionally.

People can say all they want about a "poor effort" taking the crowd out of the game, but energy in a sporting venue is a chicken-and-egg problem. Maybe the lackluster/tense/fearful masses took the energy out of the team.

We've seen it quite a bit at the United Center in Chicago, especially in the playoffs. The fans seemingly are having a tougher time dealing with expectations than the team. I have little doubt that's a primary reason the Blackhawks power-play has been so much better on the road (22.1% reg-season, 34.6% postseason) than at home (13.9%/8.7%) this year. Every time the puck goes to the point at home, people are screaming "SHOOOOOOOT". Every time the puck skips over a stick, people are audibly frustrated. Every time the opponent scores first, the energy (on glorious display during the Anthem) is gone.
