2010 Panther Cardinal Classic

Re: 2010 Panther Cardinal Classic

Yep, Bow v. Trin -- first game Sat Jan 2nd
first period -- Bow whistled for hooking at 6:36 and Trinity sent off for diving
at 6:36 -- no mimes encouraged (you end up in a real box)

Re: 2010 Panther Cardinal Classic

Was that the penalty that was called and offset in the Codfish bowl for
"diving" called on the offended team and the tripping call on the offending team? I loved that! They'd said they'd do it, but I hadn't seen it called yet, and there it was...I think it was Codfish games

Saw that one too, but the ones to which I referred previously did not include the offsetting diving penalty. I do remember that one though - that too, I thought, was an interesting call...

I have NEVER understood the offsetting calls like that. If it WAS diving, isn't that a determination that there WASN'T tripping?

I guess there's an "embellishment" aspect that may be called, as well ... to discourage diving, where the "trippee" over sold the effect of the trip ... to discourage such salesmanship in the future ...

Re: 2010 Panther Cardinal Classic

I didn't think I threw EC under the bus, I simply pointed out that someone will leave this tourney with two losses, and if EC is the one that loses twice, their pool C chances will be seriously diminished.

I also think its way too early in the season to draw conclusions based on statistics, especially for goalies. Sullivan had a good outing against Manhattanville (and one average outing), and one good outing against Utica, but did not face Platty. She had games against Buff State, Hamilton, and Chatham that would help anyone's stats.

Ya stats don't mean anything, wonder why they even record them?

Where do you have Sully now Spike? Still under the bus?

My goodness, it took you 4 days to rub my nose in this?

I have two thoughts. First, I never intended to opine on how good a goalie was, merely to point out that you can't conclude anything based on statistics. Second, at the level that these teams played last weekend it wasn't good enough to be good, luck factored into most of the games. Elmira survived Middlebury with the help of a couple nice bounces on pucks headed for the Elmira net, and the game winner against Amherst was a most fortunate bounce as well.

Obviously, with or without luck, EC executed a masterful game plan to slow down the Amherst attack, and nobody deserved the title more than them.

Well I was busy watching the US Juniors disect the Canadians over in Saskatoon and didn't have time to stain you. What's next you guys are going to start handing us our arse in curling too? Sheesh. :)

Anyway Sully is a freshman goalie don't forget. I think she has good basic fundementals and deserved more of a prop than what she was getting so...with tournament MVP under her belt I guess she proved herself...for this week anyways.

Re: 2010 Panther Cardinal Classic

Of course, she's a freshman goalie -- doesn't Elmira have 6 freshman goalies?

(Or did I spend too much time in the Booster Lounge???)

Well if you were seeing double they have 6...actually it's 3 but I've been to the Booster Lounge so kinda know what your sayin...

If I'm not mistaken, there were 3 frosh Goalies on the JV team, too ... 2 on the roster, and one who played goal, who was rostered as a Forward. Heck of a recruiting class!

No surprise to you then that Coach Fargo is a goalie. Goalies like to have other goalies around...
