2010 Minnesota State Fair

Re: 2010 Minnesota State Fair

Parking at TCF is definitely what the cool kids do. Free, just a couple blocks off the highway, short trip to the fair, and you get to ride in a nice air-conditioned charter bus rather than having to deal with a city bus.

It always scares me whenever I agree with Maize. :o

Re: 2010 Minnesota State Fair

I don't know why people drive to the Fairgrounds. It's easier and cheaper(unless you can find a street spot at 8 AM) to take the bus.

Re: 2010 Minnesota State Fair

Can he make Tom Thumb Donuts? No? Then he's not that good. :p ;)

He probably could, if it were Period Correct. ;) (He's very serious about correctly portraying history as an interpreter.)

When ELCAsoccer was living in Brooklyn Park, we would drive to Catholic Charities on Snelling Ave and get the bus there. Easy off, easy on, free bus, and don't have to drive all the way home in sucky traffic after a long day of walking around the fair.

Tom Thumb Donuts are period correct... for the period between 1949 and now. :p Tell him to roast up some passenger pigeon if he wants a Period Correct meal. :D

Obesity, definitely.

If you'd said "a vastly over-inflated sense of self-entitlement, or obesity", that'd be a much different question.

Had to use the scooter once, at work. Hurt my Achilles. Couldn't walk. It sucked. I'd rather be dead, and no I'm not kidding.

Sweet Martha's Cookies are no better than the cookies you buy at the grocery store and bake yourself. Not worth the price.

Re: 2010 Minnesota State Fair

Did you get a forklift attachment for it?

This was when I worked at Target on the night shift. I had to drive around and put all the small stuff away. They even made me use one of those stupid handle-pincer things to put away the higher stuff. It sucked.

Re: 2010 Minnesota State Fair

Went today.

-Sweet Martha's Cookies: Eh - good, but not great. It hurt that I didn't have milk nearby, though.
-Texas Twister (or some such name) sausage and potato - would have been better with something other than Parmesan/garlic seasoning. Not bad.

Didn't have any of the new foods this year otherwise.

One thing I did notice - no one seemed to be handing out bags this year, minus the stupid purple St. Thomas bags, a similar St. Cloud bag, a UCare one, and one up at Jack FM on Machinery Hill. Most of the plain plastic ones weren't around this year, for some reason.

If you like spicy stuff try the Jerk Chicken Roti at the Carribean stand in the food building. Good stuff.

Also, the fried ravioli at Vescio's is pretty good

Re: 2010 Minnesota State Fair

You know what really grinds my gears at the State Fair, why the hell do people want TV news anchor's autographs? What are you going to do with an Erik Perkins autographed picture? Who the hell cares?!?

Yeah, never got that.

I even question listening to the radio or TV broadcasts outside the booth. It's not like the on-air personalities perform crazy circus stunts.
