2010 Milwaukee Brewers Offseason - Prince or no Prince?

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers Offseason - Prince or no Prince?

Photos from Spring Training (I always enjoy the first photographic proof the Brewers are in uniform).

jsonline started the position-by-position look at the team - first piece was starting pitching. Today it's the bullpen.

I can wait. I was thinking "2011 Brewers - Yo...Marcum for a post-season spot or jen may get a little Greinke"

I like it. :)

Brewers need to bring back the MB glove logo. I like the darker colors, but that logo was classic!

They wear retro uniforms on Fridays (or they did - did not hear about this year), and still sell a ton of stuff with it. I don't think they're ever going to let it disappear completely. I believe before they went to the newest dark blue/gold combination, there was talk about just using the old logo instead, but they decided to move forward.

Jonathan Lucroy broke his pinkie on his throwing hand - out 4 weeks and may miss Opening Day.

The article mentions he can still do catching drills (so hopefully can get used to the new staff), but he can't throw the ball back.

I'm hoping for an increased Mike Rivera presence.

Interesting article on Greinke which notes that he takes medication for social anxiety. With answers this honest, this guy might be interesting.

I like the fact that he admits he's a very private type guy who has little interest in all the periferral rah rah bs that goes along with being a big-time athelete. All he wants to do is live under a rock, pitch and win, gotta love that.

Cactus juice: Japanese pitcher Takashi Saito showed his sense of humor when the team media guide arrived at camp. Noticing the photo of his translator, Kosuke Inaji, was bigger than his, Saito approached media relations director Mike Vassallo, smiled and said, "Big problem!" Saito then thumbed to the bio page of Mark Attanasio, whose photo also was smaller than Inaji's, and said, "Owner, too!"

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers Offseason - Prince or no Prince?

A couple things from the jsonline blog -

- Rogers has shoulder tightness - he said it's nothing to worry about, but how do you not worry with this kid?
- Robin is in camp - the comment that most of the Brewers are too young to have seen him play makes me feel very old.

With the losses of Cain and Escobar, I think Lucroy may be my favorite Brewer.

Single game tickets go on sale today!! :) Will probably stop by later to pick up mine.

Grienke is trying way too hard to fit in by being a Brewers' pitcher with a freak injury.

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers Offseason - Prince or no Prince?

from jsonline -
X-rays taken earlier did not reveal anything but when the discomfort persisted, an MRI was performed that revealed the true nature of the injury. Team physician William Raasch said the normal healing time for a cracked rib was 4-6 weeks but said Greinke already was two weeks into that period.

After a few weeks of rest, Greinke will have to build his arm back up, which takes time. So, doing the math, he can be expected to miss the first few weeks of the season.

so to recap:

greinke has a broken rib
lucroy has a broken pinkie
stetter has a shoulder problem
hart has a strained oblique
rogers has shoulder tightness
parra has a bad back

Is that everything? :p
Who is going to take Greinke's spot?

also just read this -
After Dodgers reliever Roman Colon struck out Brewers third baseman Casey McGehee with the bases loaded to end the sixth inning, Colon made a dramatic gesture as he left the mound. McGehee thought that was a bit excessive for an exhibition and the two exchanged angry words.

Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder then led a charge out of the dugout but was held back before he could get to Colon. Order was restored and the incident did not escalate.

still waiting for Prince to charge the mound. I really want to see it. :)

p.s. TG had a home run :D

Yo named Opening Day starter, Narveson is lined up for the home opener.

1-4 to start the season:
Gallardo
Marcum
Wolf
Narveson

Now taking auditions for the 5th starter. No basketball players, please. :p

only 3 weeks away!

Great; the game I get tickets to (Tuesday after home opener) is going to have a shi**y pitcher to let the Braves win.
