Re: 2010 Maine offseason: a lazy summer on the Stillwater

he's a 6th round draft pick, the chances of him having much of an NHL career are pretty low (I read something like of all of the players drafted in the 3rd round or later in the 1990s only something like 12% became NHL "career" players.). Hopefully he has a decent AHL career because you don't make much playing in the ECHL. He may wish he had that college degree...
That 12% sounds high.

Re: 2010 Maine offseason: a lazy summer on the Stillwater

That 12% sounds high.

Their definition of "career player" was someone that appears in 200 or more NHL games over their career. That could be someone that always had a dual AHL/NHL contract, spends most of their time in the AHL, but gets called up enough to accumulate 200 games in the NHL over their career... Based on that definition someone picked in the first round in the 1990s had a 63% chance. In the 1990s over 2000 players were picked in the 3rd round and later, 261 played 200 or more NHL games

Maine places 12 on Hockey East All-Academic Team. Black Bears have second most in Hockey East.
and
Gustav Nyquist lone player named to Hockey East First Team, who was also named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team.

Re: 2010 Maine offseason: a lazy summer on the Stillwater

Massachusetts was the only HE team with more players on the all-academic team, 13. BU had a grand total of 1.

Re: 2010 Maine offseason: a lazy summer on the Stillwater

Have any of you have renewed your season tickets?

I am giving up my two seats only because between my father and I we had 6 seats total, basically together. With cousins going off to college, grandparents now in assisted living and a young child, we could never find enough bodies to fill the seats. My father and I are going to split his 4 seats going forward.

Re: 2010 Maine offseason: a lazy summer on the Stillwater

haven't mailed my renewal in yet, but soon.
I moved my seats this year - I got sick of not being able to see the scoreboard.

Re: 2010 Maine offseason: a lazy summer on the Stillwater

The coach and AD suck! I'm going to send them a message until the university makes a change!

Now, where's my season ticket renewal form?

Re: 2010 Maine offseason: a lazy summer on the Stillwater

Darcy Ashley, 2011 commit, signed with the QMJHL's Halifax Mooseheads today.

You would be very surprised at how many do well in those rounds. Look at the Stanley cup teams and see where many were drafted... Outside the total stud types.

Hawks

Patrick Sharp, 3rd round
Versteeg, 5th rd
Brower, 7th rd
Campbell, 6th rd
Byflugien, 8th rd
Madden, not drafted
Fraser, 3rd rd
Hjalmarsson, 4th rd
Hendry, not drafted
Sopel, 6th rd
Burish, 9th rd
Johnson, 11th rd
Dowell, 5th rd
Ebbett, not drafted
Niemi, not drafted
Smolenak, 3rd rd
Huet, 7th rd

8 of the top 12 scorers for Chicago were later picks, the top 8 scorers for Philly were all fisrst rounders. Go figure....

just because we don't like the coach and AD doesn't mean we don't want to watch the black bears play hockey

you're not that bright

I thought people were going to protest the coach and AD by not buying season tickets and supporting the athletics department. But when it comes to putting money where mouth is, it's still easier to sound off anonymously on an Internet message board than to actually do something meaningful.

Once again the hypocrisy is laid bare.

Who said they were going to do that? and did they renew?

I don't think any of the people that have posted that they are renewing have said that they were going to protest by no buying season tickets.

Pull Timmay's jockstrap off your head so you can actually read the posts you are responding to.

Will you just get over it!

News Flash: It's an INTERNET MESSAGE BOARD! That usually entails varying opinions, frustrations, apologists, haters, etc.

Cripes.............
