Great story on Austin.....sheds a little perspective on his decision not to come to Maine. Sounds like a good kid.....

Sounds like he made the right decision. Good for him, still wish he'd have come to Maine![]()
That's quite a responsibility for a teenager to become the bread winner of a family that large. It definitely provides more clarity on his decision to become a pro ASAP........plus, it's not his fault that Maine was dumb enough to commit resources to recruiting him plus a half a dozen others that had no intention of going the college route.
I don't understand this. What did Maine lose by recruiting these kids?
Wasted time
Wasted money
Other recruits(?)
Bad publicity
Well nothing ventured, nothing gained! And to me the only bad publicity was generated on these boards!![]()

Bingo!
If there were kids from like New Brunswick or Nova Scotia or even Quebec that were eschewing Maine for the Boston teams, I'd be right there with you saying the wrong guys are being targeted. But that's not happening.
and Maine would have to be a 1 maybe a 2 seed to even be in that regional i would think. I'd go to Portland (and I do) in a heartbeat even if there was no hockey game, it's a great city............Bangor? it's so much further and doesn't resonate in people's minds like Portland does but i think it's a great idea to move from Manchester and share the event and let Maine have it
It's not happening because they are smart enough to not recruit them! In fact, no one in Hockey East is recruiting them. Thankfully, it seems like TIMMAY has learned his lesson and Maine's recruiting is finally picking up steam and targeting more appropriate recruits.
Exactly. If you get a commitment from a 15 year old and they back out at 16 and a half, you still have plenty of time to fill in that gap with an "appropriate recruit."
