Re: 2010 Maine offseason: a lazy summer on the Stillwater

Just curious, as a BC fan, are you saying that Maine in this last post-season was a better team than Wisconsin was ?

compare and contrast, go ahead...

as for me, I watched the HE finals on TV and was out in Detroit.

He's kept Maine competitive since he's been there even though he's had to compete on and off the ice with BC, BU, and UNH for the most part. I think he's earned an extension, but I dont see him returning Maine to the Walsh glory days as long as the other teams in the east remain strong.

Nah, Wisconsin was clearly better, but Maine certainly gave BC a better game in the postseason.

Season ticket renewal arrived today. Payment plan once again available and a discounted price for quarterfinal tickets if purchased now. They go from $15.00 to $19.00 if you wait until 2011. Maine starts regular season against the River Hawks.

Competitive? Two straight 13 win seasons, and only able to beat the teams in the bottom half of the division, during a period when quality is down nation-wide? yeah, sure.

We're doomed. Back to "TIMMAY's way or no way", and floating around the tops of the circles, shots fromn the point hockey.

Yah! 3 more years! If I can count, does that mean he gets the boot at the end of the 2013 season or 2014 season? :D

Letz see....little Corkum graduates in 4 years....maybe Bobby will take over then. :) (if he can tolerate the situation that long)

Oh rufus, always so negative. :D I hear another Ryan is coming in...no, not Prestins little brother.....they call this one 'floater', like the turd. :)

Per Maine Coach Tim Whitehead, GK Scott Darling will not return to the Black Bears this fall. He is expected to turn pro with Phoenix

Re: 2010 Maine offseason: a lazy summer on the Stillwater

sooooo.. i read timmay got 3 yrs. is that because he needed a contract for 10-11? or was this tacked onto a deal that was already going well into the future??

he's a 6th round draft pick, the chances of him having much of an NHL career are pretty low (I read something like of all of the players drafted in the 3rd round or later in the 1990s only something like 12% became NHL "career" players.). Hopefully he has a decent AHL career because you don't make much playing in the ECHL. He may wish he had that college degree...

Re: 2010 Maine offseason: a lazy summer on the Stillwater

Not a surprise, like walrus said, I have known this for a while. The handwriting was on the wall when they signed the latest goalie. I wish Darling the best and hope he is able to overcome his recent problems.

Re: 2010 Maine offseason: a lazy summer on the Stillwater

Its not news, known it for awhile

It is news because its now official...notice that you now haves stories in newspapers with actual quotes from named individuals. Before it was just speculation.

I think many of us suspected it even though it wasn’t officially announced; therefore it comes as no surprise.

2006 and 2007 Frozen Four appearances and a trip to the Hockey East final this year (and a Hobey finalist). You could do a lot worse. The Maine team I saw in the HE Final was much more run and gun than the sleepy trap hockey Maine played in 2004, too.

That was all done with Shawn's recruits. Or it was Grant. Or Corkum. Anyone but Tim.

I remember it well. In the fall of 1991 Shawn and Grant took a recruiting trip to Sweden and offered Gustav Nyquist a scholarship because they knew he would be a great player. He couldn't walk yet, but he had mad skills with the Crayolas that showed how spectacular his wrists would be. He only agreed to come to Maine because Corkum was the assistant, and Corkum had played for Shawn... If not for that connection, he never would have chosen Maine.

Hey, if Standbrook could see Nyquist's talent when he was only 2 years old, then he truly is a genius. :) As shaky as Timmay! has been, he's done better than Umile in the last 5 years or so. (That and a nickel will, well, you know..) :)

Maybe to you, but I've known for a month or so, which I why I posted that about the 2 new goalies.
