Carter was named Most Honored Opponent Award recipient as voted on by the players and coaches at the Friends of Maine Hockey banquet last night.

I'll take a wild stab and say you must be referring to Carter Hutton.

David deKastrozza and Mark Nemec win Jack Semler Most Improved Player Award.

Jeff Dimmen wins Shawn Walsh Defensive Player Award.

Joey Diamond wins Howard Neville Rookie of the Year Award.

Gustav Nyquist wins Harold Alfond Most Valuable Player Award.

Congrats to all the award winners. Most deserving !
See you next year to take care of some unfinished business !

Detroit Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard has been approached about the possibility of joining Team USA for the World Championships.

I'd have to give Jimmie a B for his efforts against San Jose. He's played better, but the last game wasnt on his shoulders. He could have stepped up a little better in game 3 maybe....all in all, a pretty good showing for his first tournament. Sure is fun watching him perform though. I wonder if Detroit feels they need a little more offense after the playoffs....Datysuk is real good, but he cant do it all by himself.

Has Maine changed the schedule regarding the second game at BC on the November 19/20 weekend yet? BC has a home football game on the 20th and it most likely means that the Saturday game would be moved to Sunday November 21.

I am sorry to hear that Kyle has to hang up the skates, I wish him the best in his future endeavors and I hope he has no recurring issues from these concussions.

That really sucks. Pretty tough reading that article, the kid simply had a rough year and no luck whatsoever and you really feel for him.

On the other hand, it's good to see him looking past his hockey career and not putting his future on the line (more potential brain issues) to chase the dream. He'll get an education and move on in his life and hopefully he'll do just fine. The last thing anyone wants is to see this poor kid have permanent brain issues. That's frightening to have to live with for the rest of your life.

Good luck to the young man. I hope he does stay part of the team in some capacity, I'm sure the staff could find a use for him. Maybe he can volunteer as an unpaid part time coach or something if he is looking to get into coaching.

I could see him staying on as a student assistant, particularly if he wants to get into coaching down the road like he said... take the opportunity to refine skills like breaking down game film, etc. and cut his teeth on the org side of things. he was a non-scholarship guy so who nows, maybe he stays and does some grad work and continues as a volunteer/grad assistant...

time will tell... interesting that kyle was the kid discussed at length on the recruit thread for the way he gave up his body blocking shots, etc. to help the team...

Yeah, good luck to him. Sounds like the type of guy who can make significant contributions to the program in other ways....with his all out attitude you just never know how good he can be at some other task until given the opportunity. Here's hoping the door remains open to him to persue his goals.

Slammed at length is more like it:rolleyes: . Hopefully Kyle will find something in school he can go after and be as passionate as he was about playing D1 hockey
