2010 Kendall Hockey Classic Thread (UAA, UAF, UND, & AF)

Re: 2010 Kendall Hockey Classic Thread (UAA, UAF, UND, & AF)

Two Alaska schools and a bunch of nancyboy pilots?
At least be fair, not all of them are nancyboy pilots. Some of them are nancyboy engineers and some are nancyboy administration specialists.

How many Nanook fans are making it down for the games? MMF, you coming?

Twitch, find us in the 2nd row balcony, center ice, players side. I'll give you a pass to the Kendall room and you can enjoy a catered dinner. ;)

Re: 2010 Kendall Hockey Classic Thread (UAA, UAF, UND, & AF)

Just remember, the ignore button is your friend. :D

Typical of the UAA fans to ignore the truth and live in fantasy land. It's been happening for 10+ years so why start facing reality now? Even the Nancyboy Aviators will crush the Seacows.

Sioux easily win two. MacWilliam kills a moose with his bare hands. MMFF throws it into the Sourdough Mining Co. Dusty brings it home to his shack. Dusty names the moose Sue, puts it in a dress and dances the Charleston.

What’s the matter…. doesn’t the UND have a “Nancyboy curriculum for the Air Force discards?
I think one of yours slid a jet on the Flats near Fort Yukon a few years ago on a secret mission looking for a small rodent mascot replacement.

nice you should bus up to Alaska one time, if your papers are in order to get thru Canada. Might even round up a Parka Squirrel for you to take on as it’s more in your weight class. I’ll put my bets on the Squirrel. Another opportunity for you to show off that outfit you made for “Miller Time”

Everyone at UND makes fun of UND's Nancyboy Aviators. Who wouldn't make fun of people like Geist?

I would whip that squirrel's arse. He wouldn't even be a challenge.

I'm not sure how many UAF fans or students will make it south. I'm headed down, and know a few others headed that way. I plan to make it to the luncheon on Friday. Alaska Hockey says he can sneak me in and I only have to bus tables for an hour or so.

I know it's not in keeping with the tenor of this thread, but I have a ton of respect for the dedication required of Air Force Academy cadets to balance athletics and academics. Considering the size of Elmendorf AFB, I would hope a large number of fans come out and support them Friday and Saturday night.

And of course I'm looking forward to the Nooks playing UND. I'm sure it will be learning experience. For someone.

Go Nooks!

Well said, and I agree completely. Of course, my son-in-law is Air Force, and I grew up an Air Force brat, so I have a soft spot for their team anyway.

Good news, the UAA Athletic Dept. has given 2500 tickets to the military base, so I hope they come out and support their team.

I am not that rude to make you bus tables at the Luncheon as you will be my guest. We get to sit with your favorite coach and would not want to spoil the hour that you get to chat and listen like a little kid in December at Santa Clause House with his undivided attention. Now at the games in the booster room that will be a different story …. You will bus our table and obtain beverages and assorted snacks as desired but that just comes with the privilege of hanging with the big dogs .:D

Birdman the fair-weather UA_ fan will be like a Air Force Door Greeter as that is his real team cheering on the Fly Boys.
I also respect and thank them all for serving.

Re: 2010 Kendall Hockey Classic Thread (UAA, UAF, UND, & AF)

Wish I could make it down, it looks like it's going to be an awesome weekend of hockey. I got offered OT......to much money to turn down! Hope the Nooks do well!

If by chance bottled water happens to fly across the table can I assume it's the Chicken Tartar and not something I said? :)

Re: 2010 Kendall Hockey Classic Thread (UAA, UAF, UND, & AF)

I'll be there. Anybody heard about any deals with hotels this year?

Re: 2010 Kendall Hockey Classic Thread (UAA, UAF, UND, & AF)

Hilton Garden Inn has historically had a deal going. I remember something to that effect. $79/night I think. I'll have to look.

a lot of _airbanks visitors coming to town on the cheap sleep outdoors by the creek south of the Sullivan. The ACLU made the city give you 10 day's notice to clear out so toss that Northern Lights Coupon book in the campfire and party down Garth, you got it made.:D

So there's that.

Re: 2010 Kendall Hockey Classic Thread (UAA, UAF, UND, & AF)

Air Force looked good last night...especially the freshman.

We have a deeper team this year, but lost a lot of talent from last year...especially our goalie, Volkening. Freshman goalie (Torf) looked good last night!

Should be a fun and exciting season.

Goaltending and youth with definitely be the question marks for the Falcons this year. Torf looked decent, but wasn't tested a whole lot in his 15+ minutes. It was UL's 3rd game in 3 nights, so they looked tired out of the gate and late in the 3rd.

The 1st PP group looked fast while they were still getting regular minutes. Half-way through the 2nd, they were limited to just PP time and it showed when they were out there.

I thought Fabian and Weisgarber were really the only two players who stood out and I noticed on a regular basis. Fabian made some mistakes, but definitely had the hustle to recover and backcheck. Should be an interesting year.

Re: 2010 Kendall Hockey Classic Thread (UAA, UAF, UND, & AF)

I would think Air Force would have the crowd on their side when they play Fairbanks, with all the tickets being given out for Saturdays game with UAA they may have more fans than UAA because it's military appreciation night. Should be some good hockey with Air Force and #1 North Dakota coming to town. Last year some Denver fans were billing them the best college team ever, this year there seems to be the same sentiment about the North Dakota.

Re: 2010 Kendall Hockey Classic Thread (UAA, UAF, UND, & AF)

I have my doubts that any sort of throng of fans from the base will descend on the Sully. Perhaps it's just my experience from being in the AF but I would say the only members of the AF that could give a crap about AFA would be it's alumni.

In fact, when I was in there was a fair amount of resentment for AFA grads from their peers. And as for enlisted people ... well lets just say not many average enlisted folks generate positive feelings for officers who order them around like cattle.

I just don't see that an AF affiliation means anything for AFA in terms of sports support.
