2010 Frozen Four - Detroit - Fans Helping Fans Travel Guide

Re: 2010 Frozen Four - Detroit - Fans Helping Fans Travel Guide

Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but it seems like the 125 bus goes from the airport into the city without any need to transfer and stops along Fort right near the Doubletree. Cabbing still might be worth it to save some time, though.

The Als... I don't even really know how to describe it. Presumably they'll be around.

Thanks again for all the help. I owe you a beer if I run into you in Detroit. We'll be the drunk Cornell fans. :)

I apologize...when you said city bus system I thought you meant the DDOT (city of Detroit) system. Only in Detroit do we have 2 separate bus services for city/suburban travel. Yes, the suburban (SMARTbus) route 125 will take you there right down Fort. It will take quite a bit longer, but will be just $2 per person. There is a stop less than 2 blocks from your hotel.

CORNELL FANS!! I loved your arena during my visit last season...one of my favorite road trips of all time! If you email the link in the guide I will make sure it gets forwarded my way and we'll swap info. I owe you guys a beer after the fun time i had in Lynah (sp?) arena last season.

Ah, didn't realize there were separate bus systems. Still, seems like the amount of time the bus would take might not be worth it, especially if there are a few of us to split a cab.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed yourself in Ithaca. I actually made the trip out to Lansing when Cornell was there as well, fun times. Unless I'm blind there doesn't seem to be an email address in the guide but I'll send you my email address in rep.

Question to the local folks -- is there an "easy," reliable, safe public transportation means to get from downtown (Renaissance Center Marriott) to the Henry Ford museum in Dearborn?

I believe their courtesy vans do a shuttle to the Henry Ford, but you should call and check...i'm not exactly sure. There is a trip planner at Smartbus.org that can help you arrange that trip. I believe the SMART 200 route goes to the Fairlane Towne Center via Michigan Ave ($2.00) per person...this would put you maybe a 10 minute walk from the museum and greenfield village. A cab to this location is probably 30ish.

Cornell alums have a warm place in my heart. We were at the Darden Softball Classic a couple years back and we thought we were pretty well off and ready to play...but then the freakin' Cornell winnebago shows up keg in tow.

To paraphrase Lewis Black..."You...you....you are not alcoholics. You are, and my hat is off to you....<i>professionals</i>"

To be fair, Lew was talking about Wisconsinites (many of whom will be in Detroit next weekend) when he said that, and I think their reputation is well-deserved.

Finding the bus at the Detroit airport is going to be hard unless you know how. It leaves from the bottom level, international arrivals, on the right hand side as you go out the doors. I don't think it runs very often, but more so in the evening. I'd get some other form of transportation to tell the truth, as this will take a long time to get there, but it is cheap.

Very important question: Where are the strip clubs?

Thanks. Your belief is correct.

And, you can transfer to the 140 which goes right to the museum, but the transfer wait is 13 minutes, so it's a wash as long as the weather is nice enough to walk.

Now, if I decide to go Thursday, I'll have to make sure I watch the time closely to catch the bus back in time for the first game.

In Windsor. Bring your passports.

Oh heck, I already knew about the Windsor ballet...

And I'll have my passport since I'm driving through Ontario (from Rochester). I wanted to (jokingly) know about Detroit.

Strip club...Trumps is an 8 mile classic.

The landing strip is a downriver/airport place.

That's all of my experience. Sorry

I've heard the food at the Colisseum is good, but for the best girls, go to Flight Time or something like that.

/odd discussion during class time one afternoon

I won't be attending this year, but I wish I could to help uphold our Wisconsin "Out-drinking your state since 1848" tradition. I still remember hearing about the Rose Bowl in 1994 where the Badger fans drank the local bars out of beer two(?) days before the game.

There's always the new Hustler club in Lincoln Park, about 15-20 minutes south of Ford Field. It's not a t-shirt and jeans type of place though, think business casual.

There is one in Greektown called Bouzouki's. It's like 1 block west of the casino on Lafayette.

Never been in there though so I cannot say how it is.

According the their website they are hiring dancers, so take that for whatever that's worth...

I have never been there. those I know that have been there are indifferent to it.
