2010 Division III Commitments

Re: 2010 Division III Commitments

Coach Curran believes that Ashton will be a large asset to St. Norbert, “Ashton’s style of hard nose hockey will propel him to become a dominating force in the NCAA.” The Bobcats would like to congratulate Ashton on his scholarship and wish him the best of luck!

Evidently they don't know the meaning of "Division III"? Or are they using the other sense of the word "scholarship"? (learning; knowledge acquired by study; the academic attainments of a scholar)

(Yes, I do realize I just answered my own question.)

Or perhaps he is simply receiving an old-fashion, general, open to everyone, non-athletic "scholarship"

Junior teams always call it a scholarship - they don't call it a hockey scholarship or anything like that, so it may be a scholarship as long as at least some of his package is not a loan. Helps to make your program look better if you can say x out of y got scholarships to play NCAA hockey

CARDS Rule -
Thanks for the up-date from the EJHL and the Atlantic. Too bad they do not include the players position when they post them.

Re: 2010 Division III Commitments

Did anyone say it WASN'T their club team :p

In general in this forum, we don't care about recruiting for club teams, even club teams that are on the same campus as an NCAA program. It would be an implicit assumption that he was planning on being a Varsity Bulldog, rather than a Club Bulldog.

Except at Adrian, all Bulldogs are Big Dogs :p ;)
