Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread II
Last night was excellent. Only got to see one game live this season and this was definitely the one to see. I was amazed that a team with no playoff hopes whatsoever came out, played hard, and dropped a touchdown on a team that needs points in order to squeak into the playoffs. I know UML wasn't playing one of the big four, but the intensity was great, the breakout was (relatively) smooth, there were long stretches of sustained pressure in the offensive zone, and the team took 38 shots. Watching Pendenza fly around the ice, Ruhwedel play solid in all zones, Wetmore put up points, and Carr make some great saves leaves some hope as the season winds down (especially if next year's recruiting class can contribute). Defensive zone coverage needs some tweaking.
Love the renovations to the rink. That goes without saying. The scoreboard is great.
Monty, thanks for the beer. That was the first time I've been to Lowell Beer Works and that place is awesome. Hopefully I won't be travelling so much next season and can return the favor. Sat in section 106 with the family for the entire game. Fantastic seats. Nice to see almost 5,000 in the house.
Will be back overseas for the series in Burlington, but hopefully will be able to listen to the River Hawks play spoiler for another team, especially coming off a three-point weekend.
