Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread II

The aliens have landed! Another goal  holmstrom's first, I think

Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread II

The alien refs have left. A few really interesting calls so far

Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread II

The longer this game goes the dirtier it gets... Lowell 6-2

Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread II

Final....

*blink* *blink* *blink*

Lowell wins... *blink*

LOWELL WINS!!!!

----

I know PC didn't play anything in a close neighborhood of good... and I know we don't have a lot of talent... but geez.... tenacity, awareness, and they just didn't quit. You know, its nice to see that when they score a goal they're looking to score another one and that when they score a goal they're looking to score another one.... other than Budd quitting on a chance to break when up 6-2 on a 4x4 they really kept up the effort. When have we last saw a Lowell game where the team had killer instinct?

Bentley???...lol

Those aliens were actually the Star Wars characters...Next year, star wars night every night. Are we 2 - 0 on Star Wars nights?

I'll disagree with you on this heavily. There is talent on this team, but it's young.

I'll say this now, I haven't fully said (at least here) that Coach MacDonald has to go. But again, with my feeling that there is talent here, and with the incoming class, if this team isn't fighting for home ice next season, that'll be the last straw for me. Between the play of the youngsters, and the goalies, there's definitely something to build on.

Some interesting random thoughts...Assuming that BU and Northeastern stay where they are in the standings, they could potentially play each other 5 times over the next two weeks and at a minimum, 4. Northeastern could put a BC-type smackdown on BU.

Now that Maine has Merrimack's attention...assuming that they stay where they are in the standings...could Maine spoil the NCAA aspirations of Merrimack?

Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread II

Let's see I think I can do the math...

60 minutes of hockey + seven goals - two goals allowed = Five Goal Win :D  :D

There's not much to say about tonight. This was the most complete game from this squad all year long. Most importantly, it came in front of 4,932 fans, and unbelievable amount of people for a 10th place team. I said this in the bar tonight and on this board in the past. Lowell could not support two hockey teams. When the Devils left, people have come back and in large numbers. Next year, we can focus on how to keep these fans in the seats.

At the very least, we have won at least one seasion series in Hockey East this year. That would have been a major disappointment if we couldn't do this against either PC or Vermont.

It's been awhile since I've seen that many smiles and happy faces exiting the Tsongas Arena. Tonight was an encouraging sign that next year, we'll see more.

Some quick comments...

Not having DaCosta in the lineup finally caught up with the Warriors. Playing at Maine during senior weekend for anyone is like a death sentence. Maine is and has been a much different team when the are on the road this season. Maine was 4-8 on the PP tonight; Merrimack will not go far in the post season if they keep giving up penalities. In some ways, the beatdown in Orono may be what the doctor ordered

As far as the NCAA's, I don't think one bad weekend in Maine is going to cost them yet. I fully expect them to lay the wood to Providence. If they sweep (which I think is very likely) and Northeastern simply take one point from an pesky but volatile BU squad, Merrimack and Northeastern do battle and an entirely different ball game. I don't see BU sweeping Northeastern but then again, we also didn't think BU and Maine would sweep at the end of last season either. We all know how that story ended.

i go on what we have in front of us and not "potential"... if th players find that ability great, but they don't have it right now.

Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread II

I think we have talent. THe differerence is that they do not have an upperclass that fills in the gaps while they mature. Look at the D. 2 freshmen paired? And they scored. We don't have a Gionta or a DaCosta but we do have talent. Watching last night- Pendenza (sp)was everywhere. The 2 Frosh D looked good, Val had some sick stick handling. Their passing was crisp (at times). They were aggressive. They didn't give up. Both goalies had stopped an astonishing amount of shots/game. Providence was awful but in the 3rd they came out hard. The guys didn't give up and played intense the whole way. We also for the first time in forever had puck luck  I was wondering if we would ever see that this season.
