I liked the unis except for the shorts.

And that goalie mask was creepy.

Canadiens are mailing this one in.

Sad but true. One of the hallmarks of this not so talented team has been their compete level, which has disappeared. They look like a team begging for a change...and I don't a meaningless move of sending out a 4th liner. Painful to watch right now.

Calgary forgot the cardinal rule of fashion. No white hockey shorts after Labor Day.....

or any other day for that matter.

Stupid trade by the Avs. Stewart and Shattenkirk were supposed to be apart of the future of this team. It sounds like the Avs are trying to save a season that is already lost and now they are screwing with the future.

How could the Avs save their season when they handed over the #1 goaltending duties to Peter Budaj? I mean, the best comparison to Budaj talent wise is David Aebsicher... and he's the best goaltender the Avs had since Roy, right? RIGHT? Anyone?

And before you jump on me.... Craig Anderson wasn't working out and I don't question their wanting to shake things up in net, but... Anderson is still better than Budaj big picture.

Oh well. My Wings are doing alright.

When did NHL do away with the free audio of the games on their website? It keeps pushing me to Game Center to watch the games today, but I just want the audio feed. My XM antenna doesn't reach from my office to a Southern/Southwestern facing window.

Go to the teams' respective websites, you can stream without the gamecenter crap from there.

CBC Sports reports the Sabres sale closes on Tuesday:

Terry Pegula will formally close on his $189 million US purchase of the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday, a little over three months after the Pennsylvania billionaire first approached Tom Golisano to purchase the franchise.

Pegula, who has declined comment during the purchase process, will then hold his first news conference as owner on Tuesday morning. He will be joined by NHL commissioner Gary Bettman.

The Sabres provided the update on Monday, adding that Pegula will have no further comment. The closing of the sale is the last step in Pegula's purchase after the NHL board of governors approved the sale last week.

Pegula was scheduled to inspect and tour HSBC Arena on Monday.

Pegula made his fortune in the natural gas industry.

The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired winger James Neal and defenseman Matt Niskanen from the Dallas Stars for defenseman Alex Goligoski.

At this rate, who's going to be left to be traded on the deadline day?

Love or hate Lemiere's system in NJ, but the switch has proven that hockey systems > individuals when it comes to winning. Dallas isn't a bad team, but NJ kept the club to under 20 shots and no goals with a backup goalie in net. Tough to say if they will make the playoffs, but daym what an impressive run so far.

Philly is still the team to beat in the east, and than its a tossup between whichever team is hotter come playoffs amongst Boston, Tampa, Washington etc. No way to tell yet since it seems injuries are playing a huge role on alot of squads right now. From a boston perspective, I'd like to see improved numbers on the man advantage, and Rask carrying a responsibility in net. It would also be nice if Horton and Ryder were consistent from here on out as boston has some quality set up guys as it is.

Pierre-Marc Bouchard's goal last night was badass. He did the spin-o-rama on Khabibulin, again. :)

I laughed really, really hard when that happened.

He'll be a contributor for sure. He's a quick forward with good playmaking ability. He can kill penalties and is definitely an energy guy.

Plus, he's a SLU grad, so he's got that going for him too ;)
That guy was really good when he played for SLU, I remember; always nice to see ECAC guys doing well in the NHL (except Dominic Moore).

This is a false choice, nobody likes Lemaire's system.

The St. Louis organist playing Cee Lo Green's "F U" after Erik Johnson scored last night was awesome.

Sorry, maybe I'm too old school, but this ain't the NBA. If someone had tried that in the old days (even 10 years ago) he'd have never made it to the bench in one piece.
